I guess it's all relative. I sorta agree with you. I would rather snatch my 7 inch Nexus 7 to watch a video then do it on a smartphone. Then again, I would rather Chromecast that video to my TV than watch it on my tablet. In the end, my smartphone is sufficient for short youtube clips, but if I have time to watch a movie, I'm typically in a situation in which I have my tablet or I am already at home.

The nexus 6 intrigues me; but ultimately, any tablet will be better than a phone for this purpose.

If they sacrificed the bezels they love so much, I'm sure a 5.7" screen would be absolutely fine.
Thye could do it.....
Here is a side by side of the 6+ at 5.5 and the Note 4 at 5.7

I agree to a point. If i have my phone with me and sitting on the sofa.......i am going to use it. For me personally since having the Note 4 and 6+ I don't use my iPad as much.

Online story from today...

"In Great Britain specifically, the iPhone 6 outsold the 6 Plus by a 4:1 ratio. Anecdotally, we’ve heard that the bigger model is skewing more to male users. Kantar’s figures seem to indicate that in fact all the new models are catching men’s eyes. It notes that in its tracking, so far some 34% of sales were being made by 16-24 year olds, and about 64% of buyers are male. “The top reasons shoppers gave for choosing the iPhone 6 were 4G capability (51%), screen size (49%) and design (45%),” Kantar writes."

I imagine the ratio is smaller here in the U.S. where bigger is always better...:p

I really thought there's no way I'd upgrade again for at least another 4/5 years (I keep things I buy for a long time), but I think I would upgrade if Apple released a 5.7inch phone in a couple of years and stick to that instead.

Why stop at 5.7", go all the way to 9.7"

Interesting progression for me.

I first thought I was getting the 6 because the 6+ would be too big.

I decided to try the 6+ since I got lucky and got one very early.

Really got used to it and got to really like it.

Then I got an iPad Air 2 as a gift. Wasn't sure how or if I would use it. Starting using it for more websurfing and reading.

Now, when I pick up the 6+ it seems....small.

Funny how that works.

Just got the phone, while i wouldn't classify it as small, comimg from a Z1 i feel a tiny bit underwhelmed by its size. Very happy with the phone but i could definitely go a little bigger.

Comparing to real world is irrelevant. If polls on here say MR members are split evenly in wanting the 6 vs. 6+ and we subsequently get more posts from 6+ members who had buyers remorse, especially given the 6+ supply constraints, you can't just dismiss this anecdotal evidence.
I can easily dismiss minuscule anecdotal Internet evidence. Most poll numbers wouldn't fill a small room.

Forums like this just aren't real world, not matter what you d like

Apple could do one of two things with 6+.

1. Keep the screen size the same and reduce the bezel thus creating a more compact phone.

2. Keep the bezel as it is right now but fit a 5.7" screen (or even a 6.0" screen).

Bigger screen? Sure they already have two of them. They are called the iPad and the iPad mini. You can make phones calls with them using continuity. They basically can do everything an iPhone does.

This. I have an iPad, and I use that primarily for everything else. I do find myself browsing more on the iPhone 6. Pretty impressed with it so far, but it would never replace my iPad.

I guess apple could make iphone the size of ipad mini those would be popular in asian countries direct

The 6 Plus feels about right to me at the moment but I could see going bigger. Tastes change. Habits change. I remember when people had no problem lugging Newton Message Pads around. They were gargantuan compared to the 6 Plus and everyone thought they were remarkably small.

I never claimed it was. It has been my observation that there have been more posts from 6+ owners who had buyers remorse than the other way around and this is albeit the 6+ limited supply. This may or may not be reflective of the real world but we don't have data for that.

Coming from a Nokia Lumia 1520

to a 6+, I could definitely love a bigger screen size. While I do love the 6+ and am adjusting to a smaller screen size, I definitely miss the bigger 6" screen. If they can reduce the top bezel I believe they can get 5.7" screen size easily without having to make the phone bigger.

Exactly. Apple needs to work on those bezels. Would love for Apple to ditch the Home button completely someday.

I no longer use the power, home or volume buttons since I've jailbroken my iDevices with tweaks like Spotlock, VirtualHome, etc....so it is very possible for Apple to do away with all the buttons.

It would great if Apple maintains the current size but have the whole face as a working visual screen and doing away with the bezels completely and place a build a fingerprint reader on right side (under the power button).

Better solution, the whole screen itself having the ability to read fingerprints placed ANYWHERE on it!

pretty high rate of return at my AT&T store from people who bought the 6+, they seem to prefer the size of the 6. I did the same...having to use 2 hands to reliably use a phone is pretty annoying.

On the money IMO

I noticed that today with Vine (I know, I'm late to the party). But basically you start the recording by just pressing and holding anywhere in the screen. That has to be the next step and will solve issues with dexterity etc as the screen sizes are likely to remain larger.

Thing about using the screen as a fingerprint reader is, you can't. The touchID is a incredibly high resolution camera essentially (something like 500 dpi) and thus the input method used for fingerprint detection is very different than the relatively low sensitivity touch input method used by a touchscreen. The only way for apple to minimize bezel would be to get rid of the top one as much as possible but then asymmetry isn't the most visually pleasing thing either.

even if you could solve the technical issue of having the entire screen be a super high res 'fingerprint reading camera'...it would have to be made of sapphire b.c otherwise its going to get scratched and be unable to read anything. With the latest sapphire fiasco that apple just went through I suspect the technology isn't anywhere near ready at the moment. Large Sapphire displays= high cost to apple = less money for investors = no thx

i agree. id like something like the galaxy megas size or even 5.7ish.

apple could do it if they got rid of the big bezel. i like my 6 plus. its will do for the next two years. i think 4.7 and 5.5 is the best combination they could have to please the public

Was super chuffed when the 6+ was released (stopped me from going over to Samsung for a phablet), and for a while I was loving it, it's so nearly perfect for me as an all-in-one device. I can browse on it for hours happily, I love reading and watching videos on it, and since I've gotten it, I've devoured loads of books at a pace I wasn't doing for years.

Recently, when doing a it of gaming on it, I've realised it's still just a little bit on the small side. For me at least, I think a 5.7inch 6+ would be the dream now. I could still live with it, still pocket it and it'd make everything just a little bit better. There is a point where size does become obtrusive for daily life, but I think now after more experience with a larger device, that that size is probably somewhere over a 6 inch screen.

FWIW, I don't have any issues with using the screen or anything. Just feels like a smartphone.

Anyway, haven't posted here in ages, so hope everyone's enjoying their new phones :)

I for one couldn't be happier with the iPhone 6+, getting the madcatz newly announced controller for it :).

I do wish that I could just use my PS4 controller without jailbreaking as its superior in quality and very very comfortable to use as well as me being very used to it.
