600,000 iPhones being activated on the same day!

As someone who will not be having a phone shipped until July 2nd (at the latest), I hope that June 24th is a COMPLETE disaster for all involved.

Yes but everyone's delivery time is different so I don't expect it to be too bad.

Exactly. Remember negative nancies, people will be trying to activate their phones all throughout the day. The pre-order fiasco yesterday resulted from people attempting to order at the same exact time, regardless of time zone, etc.

The multiple time zones in the U.S., as well as the varied home delivery times, will alleviate a good amount of stress on the servers.

I could be completely wrong, but we'll see. The negativity just gets old sometimes though...

they should release the pre orders a day early so at least some of the 600K hits the prior day. Say 300K first day, 300K second day. Plus all the walk ins. Say 300k additional? for around 1m activations spread over 48 hours.

somebody else stated this the 24th does not happen everywhere all at once and that 600,000 number is not all att, or all the US while I don't disagree it will be crazy, maybe after today att will learn something.

I will not activate my iPhone 4 until I have a case all lined out for it. Already ordered the Zagg shield full body for it that I run on my 32gig 3GS

I have faith that apples servers will be fine. Remember not every iPhone sold will hit AT&T as there are other countries involved not to mention lots of us like me are just popping existing contract sims in.

Mine is being shipped to my house on the 24th from Apple(confirmed). I might wait until late in the evening Thursday night to activate it, so I can have it all weekend. Hopefully late night Thursday i'll avoid the onslaught of activation during the day!

Late in the evening will be too late. Every one will be clicking a thousand times a minute after it keeps timing out only making matters worse. Good luck with that. Since a lot of the orders will be shipped, the earlier in the day you activate the better. Most will not have a chance to activate until later in the day when they hook it up to iTunes.

If I was a whiner I'd blame at&t only and not realize that Apple had their fair share of problems yesterday. I didn't really bitch. Was it frustrating? Yes. But do I want the servers to go down like you claim? No. Get off your horse.

I'd rather be safe than sorry and have a working phone instead of waiting for the servers to come back up.
