reading this made my day. I always wanted an imac g4 ever since i saw my grade school teacher. he had a 1ghz 17" model. But $600? HA! funny thing is, he got his model in 2008 (my last year in grade school) FOR FREE! I recently picked up an Emac 1.42 ghz. Guy wanted $100, got him down to $40 and still think i over paid a bit. What do you think?

I dunno, I think that's a pretty good price... I got my iBook G4 for $50, and I am picking up a PowerBook G4 for $65...

Maybe I'm coming in a little late, but did they even make a 24" iMac G4? I know there were the 17" and the 20" models available. If it is a 24" model, then the sheer rarity of such a machine might make it worth that much!

I think you did well (I'm assuming it works.). Still have my son's eMac - 1.42/1 GB/160 - and it works well.

That does make a difference, it seems as though PPC prices have gone waaaaaay down in the last few years.

Agreed - I sold a fully working and boxed iMac G4 20" for £312 ($519 at today's rate) a couple of years ago on eBay UK and bought a G5 1.9 17" for £160 ($266) to replace it.
The G5s are still keeping a reasonable price, but G4s have dropped considerably.

Cheers :)

Hugh

Not only is he an idiot, but he is also a liar. That model never came in 24" sizes, which is what that ad says.

And now I'm going to jump on the CL bandwagon.... How about this listing for a Powerbook G4 for $400. Just wait until you see the picture!! :D

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/syd/4364720406.html

But then again, what do you expect from people that are obviously not the original owners and have no idea what they have or what the machine in question can do? Crazy!
Hmmm…seems to be priced a bit higher than the Quicksilver you sold me. :D

Dunno if I get even get that price myself despite what I've put in my QS since.

Well I saw someone locally trying to post their "24" iMac G4". After talking to him, I offered $150(which I thought was more than fair) but said he'll sell for $580... Mentioned he would just sell the mouse and clear speakers for $150.

There's my comical post for the day.

The sad part is, that's probably common here in Ireland :(

Old macs cost a fortune here because they are so hard to come by. Occasionally there is a low cost shipping good deal from the UK, or my 23" Cinema Display I picked up in Dublin from a guy that was emigrating and needed the cash. He was a proud G5 user himself.

But most of the time I'm left with US and German imports costing an arm and a leg. I'm so jealous of all these super cheap/free offer of old power macs up on the US Craigslist. I mean there are people that would just throw away a perfectly good iMac G3? Not here. Here they'd charge you €150 plus before shipping...
Never mind a G5...

What sane human could think anything like that could ever have the word "book" in its name? :p

What does he call the G5 towers, the "Encyclopaedia Pro"?

He measured the entire screen. Not the LCD panel lol. Goes to show he has no clue what he's selling other than it having an Apple logo. He didn't even know the difference between PPC and Intel.

I paid ~$200 shipped for mine shipped with the original box covered. Thing is in like new shape with all the accessories (manual and OS CDs included) and I thought that was a steal. $600 buys 2010 MBP on CL in my area.

Reminds me of a guy here selling a PowerBook 5300 or 190 (I forget) for +$500 because it was his college laptop and he had the box. A while ago it was still online, but I think he pulled the ad.

That's the annoying thing about Craigslist. People think their crap is worth way more than it is, and people want to pay you almost nothing for the stuff you're selling.
