just as the title reads if i shake my iphone i hear a rattling sound my iphone runs fine and as far as i can tell the accelerometer works too. but this mysterious ratlling sound exists

then we have to wait for someone who knows more :S ah well

on a side note if you want your own free custom ringtones check out the fo0rum link in my sig

Mine does it to. Type a long sentence in notes, and hold the backspace key for 2 seconds.

I'm jailbroken on 2.2, but it happened when I wasn't jailbroken on 2.0

Mine rattles too. I recognized this months ago, and never really thought anything of it.

I deem it normal.

Well not to make you feel bad (in case it does), but I've never felt [heard] any rattling since November 12th when I got my iPhone 3G.

Edited to satisfy nickspohn :D \/ \/ \/

Well that is good, because I think it is impossible to have "felt" anything rattle with the iPhone. ;)

as far as im concerned it hasnt affected the performance of my iphone so i dont really have to worry about it, but knowing what it is would be nice

I have a rattling in my iPhone too, and have put it down to the accelerometer, dont know if thats what is causing it, but the phone seems fine and i have never dropped it or anything, made that mistake with my first 3g

it may be the battery, i have seen a friend strip his iphone down (fool) lol, the iphone 3g's battery is just stuck the the back plastic by some sort of double sided tape its not screwed down so that maybe the little rattle.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5G77 Safari/525.20)

Interesting. Mine makes a rattle noise too. And when I hold the screen up to my ear, I hear a high pitched noise. Obviously, the latter is perfectly normal.
