My view on such things as this:

I can't imagine a situation where I would really need the extra £100 (I live in the UK).

I can imagine a situation where I would appreciate the extra space though.

YMMV.

Now that i've read through this thread, where do I go on Apples site to change my order to the 64gb? I think 32GB won't work out too well for me. Its a lot more money but I look at it as a good investment and as "Go big, or go home" kind of thing.

Good Decision ;)

My order was 64GB; I hate compressed music. All my music is 320KBPS or better yet, lossless. Somethings tells me I'm going to be taking a lot more pics and video than with any other phone. I've see the high quality of photos/videos coming out of the regular iPhone 4, and this is supposed to be that much better. Tons, tons, tons of pics and video.

Can't wait!

32. Thought about 16 as that's what I used with my iPod Touch before, but I realized I'm going to be taking pictures, video, and, although I would always offload that nightly, I'm going to be buying a lot of applications and games.

That with a regular set of music and I'm pretty sure it would fill up 16gb fast.

I think this thread just convinced me to go from 16 to 32.

My bank account will not appreciate.

I went 16GB...the forum always makes me question myself lol.

I plan on Streaming Pandora and Netflix.

So I won't be storing any music or movies...just Apps, Photos, and Videos.

Hoping 16GB will be enough...but I just couldn't justify another $100 lol

With my 32GB iPhone 4, I have about 2GB's free so the 64GB will MOST DEFINITELY be a welcome change. That along with better performance, better camera and 1080p video recording, hell, I think even the 64GB might not be enough  We'll see.

16GB

used to have a 32GB and have a 64GB ipad 2. i use spotify and iphone unlike android will connect via ad hoc networks to my laptop. it's a few minutes to download some music and sync to my iphone.

icloud means i don't have to store as many photos as i used to. and unless you have to have every 1GB game there is, i'll just need a few apps. Siri is going to replace a lot of apps

I'm not sure about iTunes match but I'm finding it difficult to manage with 32GB on my iPhone 4 and plan on getting a 64GB iPhone 4S.

Agree with this.

I originally pre ordered a 32gb. I have a 32 gb now and I cant update apps because there is not enough room. I have 0 ipod videos (but 68 short home videos) on my phone, 665 songs, 542 photos, and 107 apps.

I could easily sync the photos and videos and that would probably alleviate my issues.

I changed my order to 64 though, in case I go a while between clean ups and I want to store a few movies and more diverse playlists.

16 will be enough; I only got 32 at the last minute due to me knowingly wanting to have a lot of my music, videos, and photos/shot video on the device at one time.

I'm a college student and I don't have a primary use for my MBP (Biology major) so I have to lug the computer around a lot. Whenever I get my iPhone 4S, I'm definitely going to start either leaving the MBP at home or doing more work on the 4S.

Being able to use Siri and telling it (schedule Organic Chemistry Exam 2 next Wednesday) or any kind of similar situation is THE reason why I got the upgrade rather than buying an iPhone 4.

Lets not get carried away here; just back the thing up at night and don't leave things on there "just because" and you'll be fine. The battery will die before you use half of the information on the device.

Of course, the uses will vary between people, but 64 is a very large number in a phone.

I'm have 12.8 jeebees available out of 29.1. There is a fair amount of video in the photo app.

Still undecided though. I wonder how much more space the same video would be in 1080p.....

When I was buying refurb 3GS iPhones then reselling on eBay, strangely I was able to get a better margin on the 8gb than the 16gb.

64 GB on both my wife's and my 4S. I have 16 GB taken on my iPad 1 without much music or any photos / videos. With the 8 mp 1080p camera (and 3 kids to photograph and video) I know we will need more than 32 GB.

Kinda wish i got the 64 now... I got the 32. Honestly i was thinking I'd get the 64 next year when the iphone 5 comes out, so i should save the 100 bucks. Meh, decisions... Wonder if i could edit my order.

I went down from 32GB iP4 to 16GB iP4S.

If my calculations are remotely close going off the Samsung Galaxy S II I returned today. A 1080P movie shot for an hour would be about 5.5GB.

Guess for 500 8MP pictures. 1-1.5GB?

That's 7GB. For me personally. I use about 1GB in apps max and same for music/movies day to day.

So in my worst case after OS and formatting I'd have like 2-3GB free

I'm the same way. My iTunes is at 74 GB and I have a few 100 GB of digital movies. I have had an original 8GB iPhone right now for the past 6 months (3G was water damaged) and I've learned how to rotate music just fine. Also, going from edge to the HSPA+ will get me streaming again for sure.

I thought that if I was going to drop $299 for a phone, then why not go up to $399. Then I thought, I can't drop $399 for a phone, hence the 16 GB purchase.

So, what do you think? Is it worth the extra 100 bucks? Alternatively, can't a person just pay 25 bucks a year for the iTunes match service when it comes out? Or would that not work for someone who has a huge collection? Perhaps I don't really understand how that iTunes match and the cloud are intended to be used. What's the best idea? I know there's got to be many more people considering the same things.

Yes, it is, and I'm sure all the people on here talking about how there will never be a need for capacity that size will be jumping all over it. To me, the cloud is worthless and always will be, but may work for other. Basically, the idea is, you have, say, a 32GB phone. Over time, you fill it up with stuff and you're out one day and decide, hey, I wan to listen to that song/look at this picture/play this game/etc, and download it from the cloud to your device.

Again, this make no sense to me why this is better than local storage. Is it because I have to waste time/data/battery life accessing something I already own? Or is the convenience in the fact that I can never use it anywhere there's not a reliable connection (planes, underground trains, out in the boonies, etc.)? Either way, to me it's a no brainer to get a 64 or, when offered, a 128 phone.

You guys could just exchange it at an Apple Store later if you have misgivings about the version you ordered.

Here's the way I see it. I always have my iPhone when I'm on the go. Being on the go means that I'm probably not going to have time to really listen to any kind of deep catalog music, or entire movies. My music catalog isn't really that big, and 99% of what I actually listen to is on my phone, along with several podcasts and a handful of TV episodes.

Now there are other times where I'm away from my computer, but I have more time to enjoy content of some kind, such as on a flight or in a hotel room. During those times I use my 64GB iPad, which has my entire music collection, more TV shows, and several movies on it. I make certain that any videos on the iPad are different than those on the iPhone, which works to expand my "traveling collection." If I want to watch a video that's on my iPhone, but I also have my iPad with me I use the AirView app (a must have if you have multiple iOS devices). I also leave some space free on the iPad just in case I decide to rent/buy some videos from the iTunes store.

All of this, combined with Netflix streaming, has combined to make me pretty much never wish I could consume some content which wasn't on some device I have with me, even on week long vacations.

I'll see how all of this works out this year (I'm getting the 32GB 4S) in terms of increased storage needed for photos and videos. If I need more space I'll either upgrade to an iPad 3 (I assume 128GB will be coming next year), or upgrade to next years' 64GB iPhone.

I'm going with the 64 gig, the total cost of ownership over the lifespan of the device makes the difference between 16 and 64 in terms of price trivial, but in terms of usefulness relatively substantial.

Not only that but I'm guessing the 64GB will hold its resale value much better than the smaller phones.
