I was intending to get the 256GB X but I went through my phone yesterday, deleted tonnes of unused apps, ensured photos and videos were optimised for storage space etc and it turns out I’m only using 25.4GB! So I’ll be getting the 64GB X instead. I can use the £150 that I saved to buy some AirPods :D

I have the 64gb 8 plus. I am currently using 26gb. I have my Photos Library synced via iCloud (it's only a partial library of 450gb of images, ~25k, going back to 2011 and the rest are in another library going back decades). I don't play games on my phone at all, so that's not a storage issue. Documents are all in iCloud or (for work) 0365 OneDrive for Business.

I run the iCloud / Photos library with "optimize" selected for the phone. My only concern is if I actually use the phone as more of a primary camera (which I may now...it's getting that good), and having plenty of local storage space until I can upload gb's of data (ex. on vacation without solid wifi) and shooting 4k. I may return in my 14 return window for that reason and go to 256gb, but other than that, I don't see a reason to upgrade the storage.

I previously had a 256GB and was using about 80% of the storage. I went down to a 64GB and have no regrets at all.

Prior to the move I purged, starting with the obvious candidates. I had a lot of Spotify playlists saved for offline playback but when I really thought, my listening experience was never any different at all when listening to unsaved playlists, so I got rid of the lot. I smashed the cache on Tumblr, went through WhatsApp conversations one by one and got rid of unnecessary attachments. I’ve set iMessage to only store the last 30 days and just make sure I save anything I wouldn’t want to lose. It’s also now much easier to save anything large directly to iCloud files and then delete them from the device.

I’m now using 15GB and have noticed no difference other than having to spend the odd few seconds here and there being careful.

i am thinking getting 64GB but every time take video or photo is it going be store on phone or iCloud or Google Photo How Does it WOrk.

Spotify.

That saved a ton of space not having a music library saved on my phone plus I don't really take a lot of photos.

i've slowly been doing that on mine. i went from 5GB free to 26GB free and can delete a lot more photos and apps. i think the 64GB should be good for me.

I came from a 5s 16g to my 6s 64g and am using only about 26g of memory. I download only the apps that I need, very few games, and carry about 3000 songs on my phone. I have a large CD collection of music, but only carry favorite music on my phone. Having said that, my next phone upgrade will be at least 128g, don't know why exactly, but it will.
