Max. temp was 84°C. When i checked the graph, i saw that the "real" average temperature was indeed around 75°C most of the time. Just once it got as high as 84°C.

I suppose my thermal paste experiment was a full success ;) I did try it 3 times however as i was not satisfied with my temps.

So my average is 78*, the max was 89* (I have seen a max of 91* at other times). This seems to be pretty good seeing that I played for 3.5 hours straight!

bit off topic, but i have a hi-res macbook pro...anyone know how to downres to 1440x900 on bf3??
the only lower res option i see below 1680x1050 is 1280x800...and thats really blurry...
thanks:)

AMD released 11.11 drivers on 11/15 (today).
anybody installed yet ? report.

The driver is actually pretty old. Its from October 26th as far as i can remember, there are newer ones available. (8.920)

For me, performance in Skyrim seems unchanged, no matter what driver i am using. I guess AMD just like many magazines just had no access to the PC Skyrim and thus couldnt develop any specific fixes for it. My guess is, if we want something that will actually increase performance (if at all), then we should wait for graphics drivers that are dated after 11.11.2011 ;)

I'm pretty happy with my set up at 11.10...running 1440x900 actually 'smooths' the picture (1440x900 on 1680x1050 = blur) and im getting 35-60fps
IS there a better GPU driver out there that would squeeze even more performance?

I have played skyrim for a few hours and it is an amazing game.

I have a stock 17" Macbook Pro early 2011 model (i7 2.2ghz, 4GB, 6750M 1GB)

I have overclocked to 800/900 @ 0.955 with temps <75c

However the frame rate is lower then what i see people reporting.

I get FPS of ~30 (outside) at High settings (1920x1200). How can I improve this?

Pray tell where I can download these?

Hi folks,

Seeing as Skyrim has come up a bit on here, I decided to post here instead of on the other Skyrim thread, because it's related to over-clocking and such anyway.

I have an early 2011 (6750m) MBP, and started off playing Skyrim pretty successfully at High settings, or even a slightly downgraded Ultra (No AA) on 1920x1080. Frame rate was pretty good.

Recently I've noticed a significant deterioration, however. Whenever I click "default settings" it detects that I should be running it Low (!), and even around Medium it's far choppier than it was a week ago on Ultra. Now, simultaneously I've been tweaking things like downloading the Large Address Aware (to utilize more than 2gb - anyone noticed any improvement with this?) and over-clocking with ATI Tray Tools. Worryingly, playing at the specified settings (800/900, 0.955V) I had an "AMD Driver Crash" error within about 90 minutes, and even when over-clocked the choppiness in the frame-rate was still apparent. I don't know if these two tweaks have caused the bugginess, but when I disable them it makes no improvement one way or the other.

So my fear is that I've put a bit of a dent in my GPU - I don't usually game hard (before Skyrim I hadn't played a game in nearly a year) but I use it in my work to do 3D Rendering a lot, so the computer does get a work-out. When I've previously burnt out my graphics, however, I got symptoms like the notorious "curtains" at the start up screen. So does anyone have any idea what the cause may be, or a way to do a diagnostic on my card without taking it into a store?

I don't know if this is even possible, but is there a chance it's running off the integrated Intel 3000 GPU?

I wouldn't imagine the Intel could get past the loading screen, but I have checked dxdiag just to be sure there's nothing weird going on. All looks normal, registering the 6750m as it usually does. It's just the steady decline in performance that worries me; if it was only running medium off the bat I'd be happy, but noticing such a deterioration is alarming. Also, the fact that the over-clock froze up the driver so quickly on optimal settings...

But anyway, cheers for the response.

Now I can't work out how to add more quotes, but to Rollercoaster I might suggest a 4gb enabler (http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=134). I'd be keen to hear if the 4gb works; I use 8gb so I'm on a Large Address Aware thingo.

Also, I had a hell of a time working out my AMD driver Catalyst thing, so I'm hesitant to update it again. Anyone have a link that's guaranteed to work if I go add/remove programs and just wipe my drivers clean? Lastly, I heard 64 bit doesn't do bugger all to improve performance on Skyrim, can anyone confirm/deny this? I've only got 32 bit.

BIG EDIT:

I just checked out the ATI card enhancer for New Vegas posted above. Detect Settings went straight to High. Also, Awer25, I shouldn't have been so certain about the Intel 3000 - just saw the thread saying people were playing on it. My apologies then, and although my settings kept saying 6750m, I wouldn't altogether rule out that that was the problem. About to take Skyrim for a test run with the .dll file now...

Anyone else having this problem?

Everytime i use Throttlestop and i overclock my GPU i start to play skyrim it runs fine for about an hour then it alt f4's my skyrim automatically then puts my Mac to sleep. It never happened before? And it just started happening. Please help

What are your setting for TS and ATT? I bet it's overheating...

if the temps are too low check windows power settings. if it's set to "power saving" that might affect performance.

He guys,

Playing Skyrim too at high settings and it plays great the first 5 minutes but then I have a temperature problem I think.

When I load a saved game and i don't move an inch, my FPS goes down from 40 to 13 within 3-4 minutes. My max temp rises to 102 C.

When I overclock (0.955, 750/950) my temp gets max to 98 C (see GPU-Z data). That's better but still a lot and doesn't provide very smooth gameplay.

What can I do (except from removing the bottom plate or drilling holes)? :)

98°c is alot of heat :O mine gets 88°c max! at 800/900 @ 0.960v
and the CPU 90-98°c with Throttlestop
and I haven't reapplied thermal paste yet :) i'm happy with it for now :)

I think that you should definitely reapply the thermal paste

TS: Set Multiplier:Turbo
EIST: CHECKED
C1E: UNCHECKED
I just followed the directions.

ATT: 0.955 750/950

Good temps...was running great. Now it isnt?

You had good temps before and everything was good. How are the temps now that things are bad?

no, i decided to test the diference between performance and saving mode, i noticed lower temperatures when using saving mode at the cost of fps.

Ohhh, gotcha. Interesting!

Guys, when I connect my MBP (in windows 7) to my tv thru HDMI, I have a black border all the way around the TV! How do I change the overscan settings without CCC? I cant get the catalyst control center to install on my mbp. Thanks!
