I think before we can make any decent benchmarks, we need specifically optimized drivers from AMD....

Other then that, i can put everything to high and get good fps nevertheless. Putting Shadows to Ultra however seems to slow the game down...sometimes at least, thats why i suggest some updated drivers.

Interestingly, the temperature stays at around 75°C mostly :D (only once 84°C -> few seconds)

(800/960/1V -> Re-applied Thermalpaste)

I am running 800/900 at .955v as suggested, what a difference!

Skyrim runs much better now. ATT's fps counter shows 45-62 (indoor/outdoor). And my MBP is running cooler than before.

Thanks! :D

----------

Im getting 20 fps in low graphics even overclocked...on skyrim

45-62, High (AA manually turned off), 900p - the game runs fantastic.

Hi mate
Can you post your macbook pro spec and your gfx driver version please?

900p? What res is that?

Also, how do you run with 800/900 0.955? As soon as i do and start playing skyrim for a good 5 minutes lines come accross my screen and i have to reboot?

Oh okay got that, but do you have any idea why my graphics card goes berserk and lines show up on the screen when i put my fans on full and my gphx on 800/900 0.955v?

It can't handle the overclock. Try it at 1 to 1.03V or lower the clock speeds. If you can't overclock at all, it may be overheating (which could be fixed with a new thermal paste job).

Its not overheating, but all the other clocks it can handle besides this one. but will it change the FPS if i lower the volt?

no. but you can't just lower the volt unlimitedly, there will be a point you'll experience system crashes and other stuff. if you're experiencing trouble it's most likely due to undervolting or oc'ing.

Skyrim

Skyrim Runs great at 800/900 @ 0.960v
high settings, very acceptable fps, I guess i'll you fraps to measure the fps next time :)
btw I use Throttlestop too :D

Can someone please help me!? I've tried throttlestop and everything but i dont think throttlestop is working. I've overclocked my GPU at the 800/900 0.96v but im still getting 19-20 fps outside in skyrim. I really need some help.

Thanks

Try this here : http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=48
It helped me quite a bit.
Also, do not set shadows to ultra, as it will cripple your fps.

At last, you might want to use 11.10 or newer ;)

Yeah you need to update your drivers and fine tune your skyrim in game settings.

Battlefield 3 and Skyrim...

Ive had mixed results with this overclocking and could maybe use some help.

The overclock that Im primarily using is 750/900 @ 0.950v. GPUz is still giving me a temp of 90 - 95C after 5 min battlefield 3. The display driver will crash after >2-3hrs of play

What troubles me is this: the same overclock after running 1-2 hours of skyrim doesnt make the temperature go over 79C (Max temp)

Why is BF3 causing the card to overheat. Its obviously not the overclock thats doing it. Is it some weird setting in ATT perhaps? I have the voltage set to 0.95 so i thought that was suppose to lower temp not increase the ***** out of it lol !? Skyrim runs beautifully...

Specs:

2.2ghz i7 macbook pro
6750m
11.10 ati drivers
Win7 64bit

What settings are you running bf3 on? I'm running it on:

high textures, low shadows, no AA, no post AA, 8x AF, medium everything else.
1280x800 resolution

and I'm getting 35-60fps. mostly hovering on 40fps..

750/900 0.955v

temp is staying consistently around 70...maxing out on 86*c sometimes.
not sure if thats too high or not? someone enlighten me?

thanks

btw: since I'm undervolting (but over clocking), will I still be shortening the lifespan of my machine? - as is the general consensus with over clocking something?

ok, i changed all the setting to your settings and the same overclock. I got close to the same fps range minus 7-10 fps compared to yours which was perfectly fine but my temps were still way higher than your 70 avg!.

My minimum temp is higher then your max temp (of 86C). I did drop it to below 90C average but im still very disappointed. I either have some bad hardware or the 11.10 drivers are not fully working with BF3 which is what i initially thought. 11.11 are coming out and ill just stick to those with a very low OC and hopefully it will be stable...

Did you re-apply the thermal paste ? Results vary depending on how "lucky" you get by applying it, but when i reapplied mine, i lost nearly 15°C of heat ;)

It is possible that you have one of those Macbooks with badly applied thermal paste... that would explain your temps.

Same hardware configuration and overclock settings as yours, before I applied thermal paste in Crysis 2 I was around 90-91*C. I reapplied the thermal paste and in Crysis 2 I still reach 90-91*C. I don't believe its the thermal paste....its just the card. I believe this is normal operating temp (stock).

Well, when i tried out Crysis 2 (a mix of extreme and ultra settings), i usually get around 75-78°C as my average. Only once i got like 84°C for a few seconds...

Max. temp was 84°C. When i checked the graph, i saw that the "real" average temperature was indeed around 75°C most of the time. Just once it got as high as 84°C.

I suppose my thermal paste experiment was a full success ;) I did try it 3 times however as i was not satisfied with my temps.
