Yes, I read about that information...

Will try to run prime 95 when I find the time, but actually this iMac is heavy in use at work.

Back to my first question, has anyone here a working Win 7 x64 with 6GB of RAM? Or can someone confirm that above 4GB will NOT work stable at these iMac 2007/2008? (I know that Win 7 x64 works stable with 8GB at iMac 9,1 line...)

I'm convinced. Looks like 6 gb in Santa Rosa iMac is good to go. Not surprising considering the SR MBP results. It would probably be the same in the SR MacBook, too; and perhaps even 8 gb since its vRAM is shared with RAM and wouldn't have addressing issues beyond 8 gb (i.e., from the vRAM in the dedicated graphics cards). Thanks for your efforts.

looks that you are the master here, tell me the final answer if it is possible to add 6 or 8gb of Ram please, thnks

The price of 4GB DDR2 SO-DIMM's is falling more and more. If not every cent is important, - I would buy two 4GB and test it. If it doesn't work, you can use it on an other device like a Laptop. (I tested it on several Aspire & HP Laptops and it works great.)

Well, if you use bootcamp and Win 7 x64, forget any RAM upgrade! Anything more than 4GB will kill Windows...

Note, it is strongly recommended to buy CL6 DDR2 RAM, not CL5, - especially with 8GB.

BUT, to all Boot Camp users, BE AWARE, that doesn't belongs to any Windows 7 x64 Installation!!! It almost killed my Win 7 x64, therefore DO NOT INSTALL more than 4GB at such iMac's (2007/2008).

Is this still true?

I have a 20" mid 2007 iMac with Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.1). I am thinking about upgrading to 6 GB, but I intend to use Bootcamp Windows for Avid.

How about some other 64 bit Windows? Will they work with 6 GB of RAM?

Thank you very much.
