Tried 6 iPhones, 4 black, 2 silver. All of them are the same temperature hot (didn't measure, but feels the same), when update from iTunes or warm, when download something. The hottest par is next to camera - power button. They all are ok at normal use.

Screens are also different from bluewish white to warmish white.

I also updated to 9.1.2 and my iPhone 6s Plus and it was running VERY VERY Hot on the top left corner near the camera. After the setup was complete it was still very hot so I shut my phone off completely for 5 minutes and let it cool down. Then I restarted it and it my iPhone now runs very cool to the touch.

Knock on wood .... iPhone is running amazing and is not HOT.

I can confirm, that it is only when I restored iPhones. Didn't even turn them off, all of them are ok now.

Sometime when I use my iPhone I occasionally feel that my iPhone is heating up to a point that its noticeably hot. Is anyone else experiencing this. Someone I know who has a iPhone 6 says that he has not experienced this heat issue with his phone.

Does it happen all the time? If not does it happen when you are doing like playing games or watching a video. Brightness set to high will also create a considerable amount of heat. Only time mine gets even close to slightly warm is on a long phone call.

It happens sometimes. One instance is where I was adding photos to my contacts and I was switching to Facebook and taking screen snapshots. After 5 minutes the phone heats up. I do know it can heat up in Facebook messenger, Facebook, Safari, and Contacts app. But i'm not playing games or watching videos.

you probably have an app in the background that uses gps on all the time.
screenshot of your app/battery use.

Mine hot while doing the restore when I first got it home. I slapped on the Apple silicone case right after and I haven't felt a thing since

Mine got pretty hot as well. I played with a few settings, but it's no doubt. It gets hot.

I'm quite concerned as phones and chargers have been known to catch fire (however small).

I won't say it has a tiny fraction of happening, but it is known to happen especially with China-made fake and horribly made accessories and wires and chargers.

I'm still learning.
I'm still here

I've got my iPhone give me temperature warning within the first few hours of unboxing. I was using Google Maps to navigate and throwing a whole bunch of "Hey Siri" instructions at it. I've learnt that Siri makes my phone very hot while I was using the 5s..

I had 9 iPhones 6s done for my family and the company I work for. All of them are hot (couple more degree and you cannot hold them). It happens during iTunes restore. It doesn't matter gray, silver.... Doesn't matter Pegatron or Foxconn. After restore I reboot them and all of them are ok. I was really surprised about the temperature. The hottest spot is on the edge, just above power button , next to camera.

The build quality is better this year. Out of 9 only one had a small defect with a SIM slot.

Had the iPhone 6s for a day not and if I'm on it I can notice it getting really hot. My old iPhone never got this hot is this normal

Check the usual suspects…

Location services, background apps and apps set to use location services even when not running.

Sometimes it also helps to turn locations services off and then back on (if it's simply just stuck on). Seems to clear things out.

Anyone elses phone running super hot?

After about 10-15min of minimal but constant use, my phone starts running fairly hot! seems ridiculous since it was never like that with my 6

anyone?

Same here! Though I was the only one. first time iPhone owner

Three days and counting and I have not experienced it getting hot. If it continues I would get it checked like what bchreng said.

I just unboxed my 6S+. It was uncomfortably hot to touch out of the box and was refusing to go into initial launch sequence due to thermal issues. I had to place the phone in the refrigerator for a couple of minutes before I could setup my new phone.

Just wondering...Are you restoring from iCloud? Are you currently downloading a bunch of your photos from photo stream or iCloud? All of these things will crank the heat up on the phone. Once it finishes, it goes to normal.

Try resetting the phone completely, don't log in to your Apple ID, restore as NEW DEVICE. If the heat still exists, then go to Apple. If it doesn't, then your answer is the above.
