As an ex-6+ owner who has ordered a 6S+, is anyone else disappointed that the 6S still has the same screen resolution as an iPhone 4? I would have been tempted by the smaller 6S purely due to the performance benefits it has over the Plus version but that lower resolution screen is a dealbreaker. Why has Apple been so stingy with the display?

because all you're looking at is numbers and are making those numbers more significant than what they actually are. You're silly if you actually think the 6 or 6s screen & resolution looks anything like the 4 screen and resolution.

Actually, the 6S has exactly the same screen resolution as the iPhone 4. I'm not talking about brightness, colour gamut and size etc.

Building from my slightly briefer but more to-the-point reply. I am fairly happy with having a resolution where it is crystal clear and is above the 320 PPI Human-limit. As Steve pointed out at the Retina keynote there is literally no point in having any more.

As for resolution, the problems with the new z4 4K is an example of why Apple has not gone there, but I believe I read somewhere that Apple is moving to have 4K panels in one of the next two devices years. Anyhow, we can shoot 4K videos and have been able to view them since the iPhone 6. Source: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...t-but-the-iphone-6-can-play-4k-videos-1274313

Yeah, it's disappointing. The screens are a joke compared to the newest Samsung devices, but overall the iPhones are better. I'm holding out for the iPhone 7.

The screen does look better with the 6+ resolution vs the 6, but that's just the current price you pay going with the smaller size device. I think the pixel density of 326 isn't enough for me, and I would like something closer to the 400+ on the 6+, but we shall just have to see what Apple has up their sleeves next year... The screen on the 6 is good, just not as good in my opinion.

Why??? WHY for the love of God is this important.

Slower graphics more energy use ZERO benefit
Well other than marketing which apparently works with at least one person here

Edit: be nice to see about scaling in background on 6+

I don't know about you but I spend 100% of my phone usage time looking at the display and whether you like it or not the 6+ display is noticeably better. Even that display is borderline old hat when you look at the competition.

I am well aware of the performance hit believe me, after all I used to own a 6+. However, beefier specs can negate this and a scaler doesn't have to be used. It's a cost cutting measure which allows the use of cheaper displays.

Is it your goal to complain about stuff day in and day out?

Battery

Now the screen?

Also, aren't you BUYING the new 6S Plus??

You make 0 sense.

Congrats. I have only ever blocked one person on here. You're now #2.

Does my bringing up inferior screen resolution on an upcoming Apple device hurt your feelings?

Hate to be a stickler but the iPhone 6 DOES have a higher resolution than the iPhone 4 but the increased screen size results in it being the same PPI.

I have both the 6 & 6+ and I can clearly see pixels when using the 6 which I don't see on the 6+.

I was also disappointed that they didn't improve the PPI on the 6s.

I used a 6 Plus for a year and am changing to a 6s. The pixel density of the screen is the last thing that would worry me. 300+ ppi and I'm happy. As long as I can't discern the actual pixels.

We know 6 Plus UI is drawn at 3x (I think 1242x2208 or something like that, I may be way off) and then scaled down to 1080p. I'd wager that for iPhone 7 both variants will have higher PPI and resolutions matching 3x assets.

Well, It kinda annoys me too, I'm switching from a Galaxy S4 which is 441 PPI and was hoping that the iPhone 6s would of at least upgraded from the 326 PPI to match this. The Galaxy S4 is a phone 2½ years older.

exacty. it just seems like people bring up numbers for the sake of comparison with other phones & not for the sake of actual usage.

If the iPhone screen resolution is too low for you to ever see yourself spending everyday looking at, then there are other phones. In my opinion, the iPhone 6 screen is crystal clear. Pictures are beautiful, words are clear, colors are amazing. Combined with an easy-to-use interface, and the fact that so many of my friends & family have iPhones, I don't need anything else.

Usage is more important than numbers, again, imo.

What you'll be amazed by is the fact that iPhone 6S display is leaps and bounds better comapred to GS4. It's not the PPI that matters, it's the overal display quality.

Actually I have compared latest flagship phones displays to my iPhone 6 display with "only" 326ppi. I was amazed about how good the iPhone 6's display actually is. It's easily one of the best out there despite slightly lower PPI compared to competition.

Can we have a "cringy posts" hall of fame on here? I think this one would win. Someone has got all emotional over someone posting on an internet forum. He actually thinks the other party is going to be upset he has been blocked haha. :D
