On that basis, there isn't a single smartphone screen that impresses you.
Indeed. Doesn't that mean that currently all top manufacturers has achivied the point where the display quality is top notch despite the resolution or technologyy they are using. I mean... GS6, iP6, G4 etc. all have display quality more or less the same. Differences are minimal.

I own an iPhone 6 and my girl has the LG G3. HD vs Quad HD display. I get around 6.5 to 7.5 hours of screen time on my 6, and my girlfriend gets 3 to 3.5 hours. Colleague who has the Galaxy S6 with Quad HD says he gets around 4 hours of screen time.

The 6 Plus has 1080p, but is a bigger phone to accommodate a bigger battery to compensate for that higher resolution. The 6/6S would have to be a lot thicker if it had 1080p, because it would need a bigger battery. Also the iPhone 6 has a relatively small 4.7 inch screen, it's just to watch some videos without paying too much attention to the resolution. For reading text, it's perfectly fine. At least, that's how I think about it.

Some people really need to stop being fan boys and admit the truth. Everyone would have been happy if the 6s and 6s Plus would have had a better screen and no one would have been thinking that they wished the 6s would have had the same screen as the 6. It's just that Iphone customers care more about other things such as the ecosystem, ease of use, and yeah the IT factor that the Iphone just has. Right now I'm rocking a Note 5 until the 6s Plus comes out and yes I will miss this screen, it's great but for me the Iphone offers more than just a screen to me. The best things that I like about the Iphone is customer support, and the fact that I don't have to compromise on software. I get all the great IOS apps and Android apps. It's a win win for me.

But if I were buying a phone solely on screen quality it definitely would be the Note 5 hands down. And yes I can see the difference.

Is it your goal to complain about stuff day in and day out?

Weight
Battery

Now the screen?

Also, aren't you BUYING the new 6S Plus??

You make 0 sense.

Congrats. I have only ever blocked one person on here. You're now #2.

Everyone needs a hobby.

Well not really. Only one of those phones is actually capable of showing the colour black.

What you'll be amazed by is the fact that iPhone 6S display is leaps and bounds better comapred to GS4. It's not the PPI that matters, it's the overal display quality.

Actually I have compared latest flagship phones displays to my iPhone 6 display with "only" 326ppi. I was amazed about how good the iPhone 6's display actually is. It's easily one of the best out there despite slightly lower PPI compared to competition.

All I can do is take the "wait and see" approach. Apple is renowned for optimization and they know how to get the best from the 326 PPI display.

Depends on the screen technology used. With LCD IPS screens that is usually true. The current 2K screens on the Note5/Edge+ use less power than the Note 3's 1080p screen, however.

I'd rather have 326PPI pixel perfect display, than having 3x density downscaled to 2.7x. Also, you can't just no-brain bump the pixel density without it affecting the UI elements' size.

Can we have a "cringy posts" hall of fame on here? I think this one would win. Someone has got all emotional over someone posting on an internet forum. He actually thinks the other party is going to be upset he has been blocked haha. :D

Lol. Just annoying is all :)

Resolution discussions are mute if it's going to effect either battery life or performance. If you look at the 6+ right now, you can see some people suffer lag and this is purely because it's driving such a big screen. I don't want to see either of these problems with the 6s.

I just don't really see how it's important when there are so many other things that are make much more of a difference. Think about it. The difference in size between the 6(S) pixels and the 6(S) Plus pixels are less than the thickness of silk fibre. Is that really worth pushing the GPU and/or cutting short the battery life for? I say that it's much more important to get the screen quality right. For instance, if the 6S had AMOLED with the same resolution as it currently does, I would choose it over any resolution of LCD, just because I think that vibrant colours are much, much more important than a sharper text.

I used a 6 Plus for a year and am changing to a 6s. The pixel density of the screen is the last thing that would worry me. 300+ ppi and I'm happy. As long as I can't discern the actual pixels.

We know 6 Plus UI is drawn at 3x (I think 1242x2208 or something like that, I may be way off) and then scaled down to 1080p. I'd wager that for iPhone 7 both variants will have higher PPI and resolutions matching 3x assets.

I certainly hope the build a new phone and not one to match iOS. I'd like the 6+ size less the bezels. That's like 1 inch shorter. Pressure sensitive screen could be one step away from fingerprint scanner in the screen.

I'm someone who's fully in favour of the 4.7" iPhone getting something close to a 1080p screen, or even better if they could cram it into 4.3-4.5" (i know i know, i'm dreaming).

That said, there's something to be said for the fact that there are more complaints of stuttering on the 5.5" iPhone. Clearly they haven't got the rest of their hardware / software up to snuff to be indiscriminately throwing in higher and higher resolution screens.
