So like many of you, I am having a frustrating experience with UPS. I ordered an iPhone 7 Plus, Jet Black, 256GB, T-Mobile, at 3:07am EST on Friday September 9. The estimated delivery date was originally between October 4 - October 10. I was pleasantly surprised when I woke up (on Saturday September 17) and saw that I was "Preparing to Ship". Then on Tuesday I received notification that it had shipped. Apple said it would be here on Monday, September 26. UPS however said that it would be here Today (Thursday September, 22). However, when I woke up today, my tracking info showed that my phone had gone from China, to Korea, then somehow left China again??? o_O It had also showed that the date had been pushed back to tomorrow (Friday, September 23). So I decided to open a chat with UPS support. I did this because I will be making a trip (to Rhode Island as mentioned in the chat) and no one will be at my house to accept the delivery...

Conversation with UPS (removed names and any information):
  • Initial Question: What is going on?
  • UPS: Hi, this is UPS. I'll be happy to assist you.
  • Me: Hi UPS
  • UPS: Yes, do you have a tracking number that I can check?
  • Me: Excuse my language, but what the hell is going on with my package. It landed in Korea, then some how broke the laws of physics by leaving China [again]. Tracking Number: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
  • UPS: I understand that you feel that way. Is this a new Iphone?
  • Me: I was supposed to get my package, today, and now tomorrow? however I do not trust that estimate at all after what just happened. Yes it is.
  • Me: This is very frustrating, because if this coming in on Monday, nobody will be at my house to sign for it.
  • Me: And I will be in Rhode Island....
  • Me: Yes this is a new iPhone.
  • UPS: I am sorry if the shipment was not yet delivered. The package is still in transit going to your address and as of now, it is undergoing to the normal route.
  • UPS: I would strongly suggest that you continue to track the package for further updates as well since the shipment was not yet in the US.
  • Me: Thanks for the computerize response....
  • File attachment upload has started.

  • Me: Again not sure how my package went from china to Korea and almost instantaneously back to china....
  • UPS: Thanks for the image. I apologize, we are unable to provide the exact delivery date since I don't want to give false information.
  • Me: Well that is good to know...Guess ill just go bash UPS on the web cause this is incredibly frustrating. and the fact that if its coming next and no one well be here to sign for it.
  • Me: next week*
  • UPS: I totally understand your frustration regarding this. I am sorry if we are unable to provide exact delivery date.
  • Me: Is there any information you can give me that the tracking webpage doesn't? Not saying you need to give me a delivery date, just like where is it? because seeing it go back and forth between china and Korea is really weird. Leaves China, Arrives in Korea, Leaves China Again???
  • UPS: I am showing the same scans as well in my end. I can say that it is the normal route of the package.
  • Me: Well that is really odd, not to mention a waste of time, money, resources....
  • UPS: I am really sorry, HansumKingTut. I understand that you are waiting for this package. Kindly keep on tracking the shipment for further updates.
  • Me: I definitely will.

You sound like an entitled *****. Apple said it would be delivered on Monday. It's only Thursday.

Does it matter when Apple says it will be delivered? UPS was telling us a certain date... some of us have had to rearrange our schedules so that we can be available to pick it up. If it wasn't going to be here until Monday, why would UPS give us an earlier date??

I'm frustrated... I can't make any definite plans because UPS (the one I would trust more about when the phone arrives) isn't reliable.

This whole processes is ridiculous.

If I order something from Amazon, I don't rely on shipping dates provided by Amazon... as soon as I get that tracking information, UPS tells me when it will be delivered. I understand that things happen and cause delays, but twice? It's frustrating.

UPS offers pickup at UPS access points all across the globe. I have about 10 access points within a one mile radius of my home. You should never have to rearrange your schedule to be home for a delivery.

The best part is when he says that's a normal route. Lol

My schedule is messed up too. What I don't want is a random text outta nowhere saying your package is out for delivery when no one is home. If I could get a accurate day/time I could make sure I'm home.smh

My HUB is more than 30 minutes out of the way... I'm never out that direction. Sure, I can ship to a store much closer and wait another day to pick it up... I have the ability to WFH when needed, but this "I'm WFH Thursday", "Actually, I'm WFH Friday", "Just kidding... WFH Monday" is ridiculous.

Sounds like a personal issue, not a UPS issue. You just said you can ship to a store nearby.

I've got similar results - exception delivery date - and arrives in Icheon and leaves China. MyChoice is still showing delivery by EOD today... Apple Quoted 26th.
