Preordering iPhone 3GS on Apple.com

For the past hour I've been trying to preorder from the Apple website. I'm eligible for the $199 upgrade, and everything works fine (slow, but fine) until I press continue on the page after it lists the pricing for me, and I get this error:

Is this happening to anybody else?
 
Give it time, it was literally less than 2 hours ago it was announced. No doubt their servers are being hit hard.
 
Yes, I got alot of error messages before it finally went through. I think that alot of people are (secretly) ordering...
 
I decided to try and pre-order and got through, but mine said I cant upgrade online? Weird...
 
at&t is going to be selling them online shortly as well, so it should get easier to buy soon
 
Same. I'll wait because entering the same info over and over only to get an error screen is driving me mad.
 
FAN discount problems.

Got all the way through the process, then at the last step, it told me that it could not finish the purchase - that I had to go to the Retail store to complete the purchase. I saved my "profile" in my AppleID... but I called the store and they just said "we found out about this too... no idea. The phone will go on sale June 19".

I'm wondering if it's a FAN discount problem on my account... if that will rear its ugly head again this year. I'm not expecting a FAN discount - just that my account is tied to a FAN discount.
 
Got my preorder in for two new 3GS 32GB phones (for my wife and myself). Had to order one at a time due to some restriction they have in place. We started our contracts last August so I got the "reduced" price. The website was slow and i had to refresh a few times but the orders did go through. I'm glad I got this done because it wouldn't surprise me if, by tonight, the site says "sold out".

Unfortunately, we are leaving for a 1 week vacation the morning of the 19th. Gah! Maybe by some stroke of luck they will arrive a day early. Otherwise I'll have to make do with OS 3 on our 3G's until we get back.
 
I haven't had any luck either. I can't get pass the $30 data page.

I have a FAN discount as well and got the same error.
 
Just ordered two, one for me, one for wife. We're both original 8GB owners and both got the $299 price for the 32GB (black) 3GS.

Took a few refreshes to correct the inability to connect errors. But orders were both placed eventually without too much pain.

Fingers crossed that the "by the 19th" date is correct :)

Instead of shipping (Delivered 19th) can you have a pick-up at an Apple/AT&T store?

Im thinking of removing the FAN from my account and then adding it back later. I am calling them though to see whats up. On the AT&T side I get error code p1231 when I tried to upgrade there.

I have a FAN discount and it worked fine for me, took forever and LOTS of tries but finally went though... doing a 3G to 3GS upgrade though so maybe that's different with the "early upgrade" fee?
 
i didn't think you could order from the AT&T site yet.

Anyone on a FAN family plan have any issues purchasing? I don't want to cause my lady any grief since she is fine with her curve 8900

I have a 3G as well. Not sure what the problem is, but im on hold with them. This is going to be fun :)
 
I was finally able to place an order online! I'm having mine shipped to me.

Even in a recession, there are must-haves. Shame on me. Shame :p
