I was finally able to place an order online! I'm having mine shipped to me.

lilnyc- I've been doing the same thing for the past few hours. I keep entering in the same info, going through the steps, and at the final step, I keep getting the error message. How did it eventually go through for you? You just got lucky one time? I'm wondering if there's some kind of hold on my account.


I have a FAN discount and it worked fine for me, took forever and LOTS of tries but finally went though... doing a 3G to 3GS upgrade though so maybe that's different with the "early upgrade" fee?

acarney- I also have a FAN discount with AT&T, and I thought that may have been why the website's not working for me (either that or because I'm part of an iPhone Family Plan with my sister). I see it eventually went through for you too, though. Weird.
 
I have a 3G as well. Not sure what the problem is, but im on hold with them. This is going to be fun :)

On Apple? You should ask if you get a ship date of the 24th if that really means you'll get it then or if it'll arrive on the 19th. You should also ask if someone has already placed an order if they can call and change the order to overnight shipping. That way I don't have to call! :D

Hope they're able to help you, my hold time was over 30 min before it worked online and I hung up.
 
I went to the page about 10 minutes after the keynote ended. I had to hammer at the first step where I enter my phone # (kept getting connection time out error from Safari, no error page on the actual site though), but after than it went through fine. Put in my order. :cool:
 
I got two successful orders through. For standard shipping, the delivery date was the 24th. For next-day, the 22nd (Monday).

I just decided to go pick one up at the store.

That's what I did.
I reserved the new phone and will be picking it up at my mall on the 19th.

I'm still not able to get past the "Can't complete your order online. Visit a Retail Store to complete your iPhone purchase.". People with FAN discounts have succeeded?

I got an error RIGHT away after entering phone number and billing zip code and stuff. The page didn't load not an official Apple or ATT error message or anything. Funny enough I used Firefox after trying that like 15 times and it worked fine... but page loads were REALLY slow, like 30 seconds or more "waiting for sever" down in firefox's info loading bar thing. Maybe Safari is set to time out way too soon with slow servers like this?
 
I doubt its a Safari thing. I've tried with IE 64, IE 32, Chrome and Firefox all to the same result :p
 
Ok I'm thinking of ordering online.

A quick question though.

If I'm ordering online and going through the activation process does that mean my T-Mobile phones will be inactive for the next 2 weeks? I mean because basically I'm signing up for AT&T service at the time of order correct? Therefore canceling my T-Mobile accounts on the spot?

PS: iPhone 3G bought on the launch day and exchanged 3 times within 2 weeks of the release.
 
i accutally ordered it right away with no probem the 1st try. i even signed up for the credit card and got the 90 days same as cash. i am a totally new at&t customer though. i got the 32gb in black. however i have not recieved my confirmation email and it has been an hour. hopefully it will be delivered on the 19th like it said on the site

hmm, i'm not getting the text option that Pooshka has. Probably because we have unlimited family texting on our plan. Wonder if that's whats holding me up...

I tried again in the 5pm hour. Maybe more people got off of their computers at that time to head home? I don't know, but since it's just a high web traffic issue, the traffic is sure to die down so that you can order.

I haven't received my confirmation email either. I have a screenshot of my order though. It will probably take a while to actually process so many orders...I assume.

Same error here. Family Plan with FAN. I'm thinking it's the FAN but someone said they have FAN and it went through. I was about to call AT&T and have them remove the FAN like I did when I bought the 3G. hmmm....

According to Ars the AT&T website will take pre-orders later tonight. Retail stores will also be taking pre-orders sometime after 5:00pm (I haven't confirmed that).
 
i have a question before ordering one online. I am apart of a family plan right now with the rest of my family. If i want to upgrade my current phone, which i am eligible to do, does the unlimited texting plan that we have with our family plan work with the iphone or will that be extra along with the data plan?
