Two years, and two iPhones, and not once did I ever come close to dropping any of them, but today, only a couple of hours I managed to drop my 3G S on asphalt, and scratched up the plastic and chrome :(. Luckily I did not scratch the screen, but I still feel like crap, it really ruined my day.

I just uploaded the video right now, I will have it up here. There are also some test pictures on there.

I hate to laugh.. but when you said "awwweeeee" I lost it... lol

But seriously. Sorry to hear you dropped it.

Mine has a shiney new contour showcase and screen protector literally right out the box. I envision the resale value holding steady...

aww im only 18, my limited credit history prevents me from getting a AmEx.

The problem is the awkward way you need to hold the phone while shooting pictures/video, before this wasn't much of a problem because you are holding the phone still while taking pictures, but now with video you are moving around a lot more.

I been working on the phone for the last hour, I was able to smooth out and save all the plastic, you can't tell I dropped it by looking at the plastic, one side of the chrome still looks like I dragged it through gravel :(, but I fixed one corner so far and it looks almost as good as new.

If your wondering how I fixed it I used 1000 grit sand paper on the plastic to smooth out the large scratches rubbed it with some rubbing alcohol, as for the metal I'm using the 1000 grit to smoothen it out, and then some rubbing compound and a buffing disk on my dremel, so far the results are good!!:D

Ill post a video or pictures of the finished product.

Well, I think we'll need a before and after.

Ah man I feel so sorry for you but I'm glad you were able to clean it up a little bit. Can you post pics?

well I have my D90 I can shoot some video of it.

Make sure you lock the exposure (you'll need a prime lens though) . This is so you don't get that annoying shifting in your vids with regards to brightness.
Let me know if you aren't familiar with that process.

Yea I know how to do it, I don't really have time to rig up something to hold the AE/AF lock button (well I would only need a rubber band and something small but meh), the exposure was stable throughout the video, and the only lens I could use for this is my 50mm prime, but that focuses somewhat far so I couldn't get to close. Im uploading it now and I will post it in the original blog post. The video is only SD right now, it takes a while for HD to show up.

Yea sorry about that, only thing on my mind was I needed to fix it, I didn't care about taking pictures of the process, I somewhat regret not stopping to do a before video.

that video is soooo clear

when I bought my 3G I didnt use until I got a cover for it, it stayed in the box for a day or 2

Look at the bright side--now it's done and you don't need to panic about it. It probably just unloaded 2 years' of anxiety for you. It was bound to happen sooner or later.
