Yes my new 7800 GTX is flashed with that very one. It is fresh from a graphiccelarator dump.

Hello rabidz7,

So this is the PowerPC Rom for the 7800 GTX 512mb ?

Because I have been threated like a moron in many forums there where even people who asked for money to give me a copy of that Rom.

So please if you could confirm that this a working Rom, I would be very happy :)

Thx in advance.

This is the rom that works on my card. It is straight from a rom dump. It will work great.
Other people do not believe me, so please confirm that this rom works when you are done flashing.

I believe you if that counts but I haven't tried it.

Hello rabidz7 i have flashed the ROM-Image you provided on my XFX7800GTX-512 but it doesent work properly. My Quad G5 boots fine with the flashed card but i get often screen artefacts like black or green tiles or in preview alot of green and red pixels. The GLview test runs to the end but the cube stops rotating after a few seconds and after finishing all tests most of that showed 0 frames, so i think the clock rates of the core or memory are too high, can this be the case or need your rom image improvements for my XFX card? Can you help me? Thanks alot and greetings, antares0815

It shows that rabidz7 is banned, so I don't think you'll have much luck by asking on here, unless someone else chimes in about your issues

How is an ia32 ROM supposed to work on a PowerPC?

How about some evidence? A screenshot? A video showing you loading "About this Mac"?

ROM posted by pm7300 is FCode PowerPC. Good, working one. The same I have and flashed few cards with it without problems.

Okay, 7800, with two zeroes, not 780... Whew. I misread it the first time and thought you were talking about a current-gen card.

Still, great work getting it to work!

Hello pm7300, a big thank you to you for providing that ROM. Now all is working properly!!

Best wishes

Glad to know about your success. I have also another great card for my Quad: it's an ATI X1950XT 256Mb and it works faster than 7800GTX although I use The 7800 because the more Vram. If you have an ATI X1950XT 256 I'll provide the Rom for that card as well. BTW the Rom works only with 256Mb card and not with 512, the system "sees" it as X1900 and works both Tiger and Leopard.
Cheers

As I could not find any ROM for it, i've ordered the 7800 already, but if You will be so kind to provide it, I'll get an ATI as well (it's 20$).
In what programs is it faster by the way?

Hi. Ati X1950XT benchmark-wise is rated slower than Nvidia 7800GTX, but you'll find it's not. I've tested it with X-Plane and Marine Aquarium and it performs better than 7800, look at FPS, therefore 7800 has more Vram so I can set X-Plane with a better rendering quality for a better smooth vision. Aperture 2 is slightly faster with 7800 but other apps such as Photoshop, Bridge, Quick Time they run equal or faster with Ati X1950XT, just make your own comparison with these cards.....
Here's the Rom for Ati Radeon X1950XT 256MB PPC, let me know if it works on your card.

I finally have my 7800 GTX and a spare Windows PC with a PCIe power cable (still need one for my G5) and I have the ROM file. Now I just need to know the flashing procedure. The info on The Mac Elite site is a bit dated. Looks like the download link redirected wrong but I found v5.40 of nvflash elsewhere. Is that okay to use? Not even sure how to create a bootable USB drive, but think I have a solution as I am typing this.

So this ROM file is definitely for the 512MB 7800 GTX? I recall reading that without the 512MB support, the card will not be usable under OS 10.4 (which I still need).

Do I need to have TWO video cards installed in order to do perform the flash?

Okay, I've sorted out the boot device and have all my files in place. I ran the "nvflash --check" and my card has been successfully identified. I really only need to know one thing now-- what version of nvflash did you guys used to flash the ROM provided here? v5.40 that I found already had "cwsdpmi.exe" bundled with it, but an older one did not. The Mac Elite makes specific mention of this so I can only assume if I am not using the right one, I could mess things up.

Also, is it okay to perform the flash with only the one card installed? Will I immediately lose my display once the flashing has started??

Thanks.
