When will people learn that their 100% screenshots are useless?

iPhone 5 (2 years old) can get 30 minutes with 100% too. Still can't get more then 5 hours and 30 minutes out of my battery.

I have gone through this to make sure battery life is better. http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/maximize-your-iphones-battery-life-ios-8-0157478/

----------

I noticed after upgrading to 8.1 a lot of apps I turned off in background app refresh turned back on after the upgrade. I since turned them back off any my battery life is back where it was which is great. I only have a few health apps on in background app refresh which seem to want that setting on.

Same here after the 8.1 update. Thanks for the heads up. Changed it back to off.

That scotty article was well done. Credible.
Here's a question and I think I've verified this- sleep your phone, then if you wake up your phone it will register one minute of use at only a fraction one minute of use.
Just tried this and went from 3 hours 24 min to 25 min in only about 20 seconds of use.
Try it and see if I'm on point.
It calls into question the whole accuracy of the usage timer. We all may be getting a fraction of the use we think we are getting.
Not that I care too much. Thr phone is great. All good.
And in a few short years all this angst about battery life (yeah I stress it too) will be a memory when new tech makes the phone go for a week without changing.

So turning the phone on and off a lot (to check various apps) will corrupt the accuracy of the timer.
Running the phone for a hour while you read something or other continuous use will time accurately.
Anyone agree?

Same here, with the 8.1 the battery life on my 6 have really decreased a lot!! I have only unplugged at 5am and it's 9.27 now and I am at 50%. Before I would have had this amount of battery power at 3PM

I think there might be more post-processing going on after the update. Possibly Spotlight indexing, etc. Let it settle back down after a day or so and then you should have a good basis to judge battery life.

I'm getting the opposite, I feel like I have better battery life than before. With this usage I'm on track for almost ten hours. Will have to wait and see.

For about a week I looked at Usage everyday and then dealt with the apps at the top of the list (really just facebook and twitter). Turned off background refresh on those two and it helped tremendously.

Now I look at usage every few days and deal with the apps at the top if need be - mostly by controlling background refresh. I don't believe location services plays that big of a role in battery life.

doesnt apple pay always stay on? hence the decreased batt life? how else does it know to open passbook when you are near a terminal.

they really should have made it the same thickness as 6+ with bigger battery

iPhone 6+ with 8.1

Topped off battery last night when I installed 8.1

This morning, it's still at 100% (oops, just moved to 99%) after 54 minutes of usage. Really haven't used it too much after unplugging it last night other than check on weather forecast, fantasy football outcome (my teams suck), and a little browsing on Alien Blue. Don't use Facebook or Twitter apps on phone (or any device, for that matter). Highest usage was by Alien Blue (Reddit app).

More than 14hr of standby left at this time.

Before 8.1, my battery life was a bit worse.

In short, your mileage may vary.

I'm trying to get a better understanding on app background refresh. What does it actually do? For example I have Facebook background refresh off..will I only get notifications when I open the app?

Thanks!

Wow this is weird. I updated it yesterday evening and had it on charge all last night. I saw this thread so I thought I would check mine and this is what I got...

It was on charge for 8 hours last night. There is no reason for it not to be fully charged.

Your not the only one having this bug both my iphone 6/plus battery usage stats goes blank after a two reboots.

Just tried on my aunts iphone 6 rebooted her phone around 3-5 times battery usage stats reset to blank iOS bug I think.

I have the same odd "100%" even though I have 28 minutes of usage and 2 hours of standby. Think it may be a bug.

On another note, I have "Music, Background Activity" for 5% over the last 24 hours and have no idea what that is, any ideas? I don't have music playing or open or anything.

That is nothing, I had 10 hours and 30 minutes of standby and 20 minutes of usage... still 100% :)
I did charge it up to max and did not drain it all since my last report.

Battery life has been awesome here.

Give it a few days to settle out. Every new software release there are battery issues. And a week after every new software release, those battery issues go away.

This is consistent with my experience. I took an initial hit and it seems great now.

My battery seems pretty good on 8.1, iPhone 6

I forgot to take the screenshot before plugging it in, but took it straight after plugging in. I was on wifi 1/3 of the day. Took it off charge at around 06:00 and plugged it in tonight at around 00:00.

Updated last night, and at the moment I have 4:15 of usage and 56% battery left.

Yeah, I am happy with that!

I think you were right. I did let the battery totally drain yesterday and did a full charge. Much much better today, same as it was before 8.1, to not say even better.

After a full battery drain from last night I see major improvements!

This morning
