so, if it is coming tomorrow, then the case will not be redesign. interesting. I was pretty sure this new Octo would sport a new redesign case.
Apple will have a special event for that, so unless this is just a mistake from Apple or maybe a marketing ploy to keep folks excite until NAB.
Well,we'll see less than 24 hours to find out.

No I don't, but there is no reason why a website needs to be run from Europe when it can be updated from a central location. it wouldn't surpise me if all of Apple's websites were updated from the USA, but then again they might not be. My point is still valid though, I doubt there is an IT team in the UK that stays awake to do website updates in the middle of the night.

Try not to be an arse next time mr brave guy sitting behind a computer screen :p

Why would a team doing Routine Maintenance somewhere in Europe (I never said the UK), in the middle of the night surprise you? It's the middle of the night, traffic is low, best time, surely?

As for your theory, History tells us Europe updates happen between 12pm and 3pm GMT. I am of course always open to being proved wrong. If we get new MacPros now I will bare my arse, it's the middle of the night.

They updated it to include the mistake...there must be someone...

Personally, if Apple does any changes to the box I hope they offer the same style but in black.

UK Store is down!!! :D

"We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly"

I'm really sorry if this has been said already :eek:

Who cares about what operating system it ships with? If you've got $3000+ for a decently geared out 8-core Mac Pro, I think you can scrounge up the ~$150 to upgrade when they release OS X 10.5.
OS X + iLife = $200 and there's no guarantee that the price won't go up for the next versions.

Also worth considering the time you'll waste upgrading your OS and software - sure, not a big deal but it's a few hours you'll never get back and, who knows, you might encounter some unexpected glitch causing you stress, frustration and further wasted time. It might just be a hold-over from my Windows days but I have a deep-rooted mistrust of OS upgrades.

Unless you need a computer RIGHT NOW, I say wait 30 days, let them deal with any initial hardware kinks, let the supply chain sort itself out and hop onboard when you the bundled Leopard and iLife '07 will save you almost 10% of the overall cost. The early adopters will probably have to wait a week or so for delivery anyway.

The NL store is now in mode....

Maybe they've realised the mess and they've pulled it down to repair and withdraw the mistake.

Hope not! :)

I wouldn't mind this. I had a few apps that had trouble with Tiger when it was first released, so I'd use the older OS until the problems are settled.

I hope it also uses different memory. The stuff it currently uses is a crazy design.

Why were you pretty sure? The stuff about a new case was just rumors :p ;)

Hi everyone.

I work for Apple but I am so senior that I will not get in trouble for posting this.

And Apple loves the MR community, so it is all good!

Here's the 411, dudes! We are about to release the following updated products:

1) 16 and 8 core Mac Pro machines which can use any industry standard graphics cards;

2) MacBooks and MacBook Pros in a whole range of screen sizes with 2 or 4 cores and dedicated 7600 or 7900 graphics;

3) 32" iMac but I will leave the details on this for now - it's going to shock you!

There will be no changes to the Mac Mini.

Love and kisses,

Cindy Apfelhexen

And Leopard?

Actually, 8-cores getting released tomorrow makes perfect sense, allows them to clear exactly 30 days before the next big announcement at NAB which, as we know, probably involves FCP which, in turn, we know will only run on Leopard.

Excellent: Leopard by mid-April; you heard it here first :p
