Sounding good, will probably upgrade with the 15 - but don't have to, would be a bit of a whim upgrade and if the colors look like they came out of a corporate HR department brochure (like this years) I'll probably pass.
Apple needs to seriously consider Product Red for iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max & Ultra.

additionally, i think turning the buttons to solid-state isn't great. it was one thing for the home button, but for the power button? what about emergency situations where you need to force-shut off the phone?
It's a good question - have to assume they would have a new way to do a hard reset.

...that...doesn't make sense...at all. Especially if that USB-C port gets USB 3 speeds for the pro iPhone, you'd be purposefully buying a worse phone just to stay on lightning.
If, like me, you never use the port to transfer data to and from the phone, then USB-C is a negative. This is why I upgraded from the 13 Pro to the 14 Pro this year to make sure I could have a Lightning connector for two more years. Lightning is a better connector for charging a phone than USB-C.

It's also not confirmed that iPhone 15 will have USB-C.

That's a very good point. Apple may just do that since sales for the regular iPhones have been low.
They're low because the non Pro models of the iPhone 14 are all just refreshed iPhone 13's.

Apple saw strong iPhone 13 sales because they didn't try to pass off the 12 as a 13 like they're doing with the 14.

As Tim Cook said,

"‌iPhone‌ set an all-time revenue record, thanks to the strength of the iPhone 13 lineup.

In terms of the mix, we don't comment directly on mix, but we saw strong demand across the ‌iPhone 13‌ family."

That's a very good point. Apple may just do that since sales for the regular iPhones have been low. Might discontinue the regular models as they did with the iPhone Mini this year. iPhone SE will stay for Apple's Spring event.

2023 iPhone Line up.

iPhone 15 Ultra Max?
RIP iPhone 15 and 15 Plus! 😪

Sounds like a very good upgrade. Of course I’m still on a XS but I’ve been waiting for years for:
1) Always-on display
2) USB-C

Sounds like iPhone 15 will finally have both those things, as well as major memory and chip improvements.

So let’s recap: Faster CPU, more RAM, longer optical zoom, USB-C. Boring. I would like to see something more fun like support for the Apple Pencil.

Retina display was very exclusive to iPhone 4. It’s here to stay in all models.

Apple could offer 160Hz to the Pro models. Now we are talking 🫣

Yes, that was before we got regular and pro models. It was ment as something that started as a great feature and became self-evident. > 60Hz displays have also become self-evident even in quite cheap phones.

But only if you can store the Pencil in the iPhone.
Let call it Ultra without Pencil and Galaxy with Pencil!

I just had the apple store pop a new battery in an iPhone 6S for $50 to help it along until next year. Big difference in usability.
I did that last year, but this year it's kinda showing its age more. Apps are slower to load as well as update and the charging port is getting finicky. Its still a good phone and it does most of what I need. I think the 15 would probably last me 10 years if properly supported by Apple and have 6GB or more RAM.

How is "Same Sizes" a feature (one of the 8 features) for the Iphone 15? What is that? That's like saying everything the same is a feature too.
Omg. I was just headed here to ask the very, same, thing.
I think all of the depressing "ads in our OS" business has me more annoyed than normal.
How is nothing changing a feature? Grrr... lol

If the regular iPhone 15 is gonna be the same as the iPhone 14 Pro then it shouldn’t even exist. Apple should just continue selling the 14 Pro at whatever price they were gonna sell the iPhone 15. Apple really should just get back to releasing 2 phones every year instead of 4, we see that the regular 14 is practically the same thing as the 13 Pro, so it’s redundant now.

If Apple is going to call it the 15 Ultra (and I’m assuming this would come with a price increase), they need to go all out with the hardware. Titanium instead of stainless steel, a larger battery (maybe get rid of the camera bump and make the phone thicker for this, as titanium is lighter), reverse wireless charging, and maybe even bring back 3D Touch.

Don’t have an increased price/name for no reason.

I don’t see any need to upgrade from the 14pro. I care not for usbc and 4nm is plenty power efficient compared to the 6s I last had.

Honestly I would like Pencil support - on the Max it would be nice to do some sketching occasionally and would be useful for taking notes in kanji.

Also I would be 100% okay if they stopped having a protruding camera. Like just make the phone a bit thicker and give me more battery. Frankly they could make it easily 5mm thicker and I would love to have like 3-4 days of battery life.

I do know plenty of my friends opted against the Max size once there was feature parity, so having the Ultra only be the largest one would not be a plus for them.

I really think USB-C for next year will be a BIG maybe, and if so I can see it only being on the pro models or if there really is going to be something above pro. Apple may have acknowledged having to abide by the rules set by the EU, but that deadline is end of 2024 giving one more year of new iPhones being able to be lightning.

I can see the pro models doing the switch next year, to kind of give that last heads up to any non-pro model buyers that they are next.
If USB-C was coming in the 15 series, it would have already been in the works and not tied to the recent EU ruling. What seems more likely is that Apple will now take advantage of the EU's 2024 deadline and upgrade ports on the 16 model.

That said, with the relatively tame 14 Pro update, Apple could look have already been moving to implement USB-C in the 15 to have some "headline grabber" for the socials.

Look at me, covering all my bases. Look out Kuo, I’m coming for ya. 🤪😂
