Why do I feel like Apple is so stubborn they probably will create a USB-C version just for them 😂
No, I think a better example of typical Apple stubbornness would be they choose to go port-less rather than adding USB-C. They would be killing two birds with one stone, satisfying EU requirements while at the same time still following their original plans.

I'm curious - did the 14 Plus phones sell better than the 13 / 12 minis? If so, wouldn't it make more sense to bring the smaller models back vs creating a bigger phone that doesn't do as well and arguably is more expensive to manufacture?
Apple’s hardware design/planning/component-sourcing cycles take longer than a year. It would be too late now to pivot back to a mini for 2023. That’s also why we got the 13 mini, because when it became clear that the 12 mini was selling below expectations, it was too late to cancel the 13 mini.

The real revolution in smartphone photography will be a changeable aperture ring.
I'd 100% take that, instead of a periscope lens.

Historically Apple hasn’t offered Product Red on their high end products (iPhone Pro, SS Watch). This could be attributed to Apple’s high end products being for more affluent buyers while supporting charity is for… oh wait. 🤦‍♂️
Since the Product Red donations are based on a percentage of the sales profit, Apple would have to give more of their profit away in absolute numbers with their popular higher-priced products.

I really think USB-C for next year will be a BIG maybe, and if so I can see it only being on the pro models or if there really is going to be something above pro. Apple may have acknowledged having to abide by the rules set by the EU, but that deadline is end of 2024 giving one more year of new iPhones being able to be lightning.

I can see the pro models doing the switch next year, to kind of give that last heads up to any non-pro model buyers that they are next.
There's an mkbhd video that beautifully illustrates the possible future of the iPhone, with regards to the EU regulation.
I don't think apple will have usb-C on the iPhone 15; I think they'll slowly push the magsafe ecosystem only to release a portless iphone in 2024.

I don't need more or better features for now. I would be happy if they can offer everything in the iPhone 14 Pro but make the body and camera bump thinner without reducing battery life. Not expecting this. It's just what I want.

Well, if you think about the "Ultra" Watch, it had strong metal bezel and a bit thicker. I know you said thinner, but...

Would you go for an unobtitanium metal body or a polycarbonate shell that is thicker by 2mm or so and allows for a larger battery, and elimination of the camera bump? I'm thinking that would work and could be worthwhile.

What I want to see in the iPhone 15:

- Same physical buttons (they’re one of its best features)
- Remove the Dynamic Island because it’s ugly
- DO NOT return to fragmenting the high-end “Pro” phones. One of the best moves they made was bringing the two sizes in line with each other feature-wise.
- A new color that’s at least as good as Sierra Blue

A bit too early for this. I don’t pay attention to iPhone rumors until March/April given that things can change, information is fake, 7 months before release.

When “same sizes” is considered a “rumored feature,” how can you stop at 8?

9. Makes calls!
10. Pairs with AirPods!
11. Still has Siri!

Sorry, presenting same sizes as one of the 8 rumored features was the best thing I read today. 😂🤪😳

iPhone 15 Ultra 128GB starting from "only" $1499

Brutal opinion: Apple will go portless from next year just to spite EU, India and Brazil.

They have to get rid of that dynamic island rubbish. Fine when using it as a phone but watch a film and its like watching your tv with a couple of post-it notes stuck on it covering part of the image.

I’m quite happy with the incremental changes that we now see. It means that I am happier to keep my existing iPhone as I don’t feel I am missing out. Actually keeping my phone longer is environmentally friendly, (unlike selling a power supply separately the cheap ********s) and also financially friendly too.

I'm hoping my poor iPhone 6s plus would last until the 15 comes out. It's running on its last leg now and I want to pull the trigger for a new phone but I really want a usb-c port. More RAM is always nice too.
Do not wait, it won’t happen. EU law says that all smartphones must have USB-C to the end of the 2024. So next year is 2023 for iPhone 15 and it will come in September 2023, which means they still don’t need to put USB-C. No USB-C for iPhone 15. Maybe in iPhone 16 because it will be made in 2024 and it will still sell in 2025 so iPhone 16 will be USB-C or port-less.

USB-C alone will make me upgrade and ditch all Lightning accessories altogether. Get it over with Apple, come on!

I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see USB C till the iPhone 17 as I believe the wording of the law is that it only applies to phones released in 2025 not those on sale (otherwise 2 or 3 year old phone stock would have to be recycled which would create a lot of e-waste) and I fully expect that by then the iPhone will be port less.

The enthusiasm for the DI is over soon, on the other hand it's a stupid game.

And sales also need to stagnate, if you’re so focused on next year’s model at least 2 months after the new model is presented.
iOS 16 sucks, huh?

Think a little, exactly what was said months ago but someone had to push sales.

The little game is breaking.

Forget folding phones, Apple. Keep pushing for better camera tech but come up with an expanding lens array that moves out only when needed. Let's get back to thinner and lighter devices!
I don't knpw why, but I've never found the iphone (any model) to be either peticulary heavy nor to thik. but then again I have big pockets and alwaus use rather thick wallet covers anyway
