only reason i'm still waiting with my X (which works pretty much fine)
Replaced my iPhone X for the 14 Pro Max. Mine did not work fine, even with a new battery. Not sure what kind of magic is going on here. The phone was unbearably slow and quick to heat up, not to mention the atrocious battery.

Dunno if anybody has brought this up (comment thread = TL;DR), but I would hope that the solid state buttons are somehow disentangled from the software layer; when your iPhone inevitably locks up/freezes and needs to be restarted, will the buttons cease to respond, as well? Or hopefully, the buttons and their logic board load into in a protected memory space that can't be brought down by the OS/app crashing.

Most of us don't carry a computer around with us always, and if you're relying on your phone as your digital car key, payment card, and digital ID, and it locks up, and your only recourse to restart it is to plug the phone into your computer, which you don't have on you at the moment...

Compact size. All these monster sized 6+ inch phones are ridiculous and make you look like an unfashionable goof in public with a huge bulge in your pants.

It's embarrassing how everyone thinks this is NORMAL.
I understand that there is many people outthere who wants smaller phones.
I totally get it.
But I have size 11 on gloves and I can't go smaller than my current 6.7".
I have tried several brands and sizes and I can't even text. It takes forever to text with a small screen because I type wrong/missing all the time.
Just a thought😊

Yeah, but at least you have a TON of options of going normal, large or REALLY large. There's basically NOTHING in the compact range.

Wider or foldable please

Trying to type on the stupid little keyboard even on my 13 pro max drives me nuts
You should loan my working phone Samsung A50😁
It's impossible to text/mail on it because of the small and narrow screen, especially when you have a big and fat fingers like me😂
The Pro Max phones have wider screen and it's a blessing to use it afterwards😊

USB-C = take my money.

Funnily enough, I'm looking for a smaller phone than what Google offers while others here want bigger iPhones. Sorry about the big hands, fellas. I just want something that will fit my normal sized hands and pockets.

That's true!
I don't know if you prefer Android or Apple phones, but I did a quick search on max 5".
If you like iPhones you have the SE 2022 or previous model. They have a 4.7"
If you are into Android, there are not so many models, only old ones.
So choices isn't the best thing for a user who want small size phone.

Optical zoom and USB-C are the biggies for me, especially if the latter is paired with support for a faster protocol like USB4 or Thunderbolt.
MKBHD has a good video on why Apple will never have USB C for the iPhone. They will focus on making MagSafe better, maybe including them in the iPhone box, then when EU law kicks in, in 2024, Apple will just remove the charging port completely(EU law states that only devices that charge via a cable needs to be USB C, wireless charging doesn't require USB C)

Anything worth to call it an upgrade vs a “refresh”?. Changing the port is the great innovation?, off course it is not innovation, is just a change, a good one, but not dealbreaker.
How about under display finger print reader?, how about able to edit a mistyped number in the phone app?, or a curved edges screen?, or a camera worth the money?, or a significant better battery technology?, or no notch, at all, etc. iPhone 15: “the same as last 2 years, but in a new and improved magical color! And USBC, and more expensive, and just better, get it now before we change the color next year!”

Retina display was very exclusive to iPhone 4. It’s here to stay in all models.

Apple could offer 160Hz to the Pro models. Now we are talking 🫣

Talk about completely and utterly missing the point. It’s obvious that user was being sarcastic. As if you’ve actually gone and provided links too 😂😂

I really think USB-C for next year will be a BIG maybe, and if so I can see it only being on the pro models or if there really is going to be something above pro. Apple may have acknowledged having to abide by the rules set by the EU, but that deadline is end of 2024 giving one more year of new iPhones being able to be lightning.

I can see the pro models doing the switch next year, to kind of give that last heads up to any non-pro model buyers that they are next.
Yeah, I'm afraid of this very thing. They can be so bitchy sometimes.

A shame, because as these cameras get more capable for recording higher-quality video, transferring all of that via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth gets more time consuming. USB-C (with either USB4 or Thunderbolt transfer speeds) is the dream.
