Maybe it's a U.S. SoCal thing but I met with 3 different buyers who all had a problem with it before finally finding a sale.
Must be. I had no issue selling my 4S warranty replacement in my original box as new on CL in Michigan. Still had the warranty sticker covers over it and everything though.

I got my iP5 on launch day and was very happy to have the new toy. Then... over time the annoyances of the iPhone 5 began to grow.

1. Quality control - right out of the box it had 3 big scratches. I pre-ordered from AT&T so they said I can either return it (w/ a $36 restocking fee) or I can take it to Apple for a replacement (which %#?!s up the ability to sell it, which I later find out).

2. Scuffing - so I go to Apple for a replacement and end up going through three bad ones before finally settling on the 4th. Was a huge hassle and the Apple rep had to call his manager after the first two had scuffs. Then the manager starts huffing / puffing / rolling eyes / looks at me like I'm stupid because I want a flawless product that I paid $700 for. Then I finally get one that I find acceptable and after 4 days the chamfer edges start to show bright silver  If you can't tell I'm highly OCD about my iPhone and take great care of it. I only had it in my pocket, no keys or change at all, and when I used a microfiber cloth to wipe off the fingerprints the black started to wear off and show more silver. Ugh :(

3. Larger screen - larger screen is great right? WRONG. The 4" screen forces me to shift my hand to hit te top row of icons or pull down notification center. I almost dropped my phone a few times doing this.

4. Apps - most apps aren't set up for the larger screen and need to be updated. This could take months, if ever. Certain apps the letterboxing would be a hindrance such as Google Voice (letterbox bar below messes up typing) or games (Im focusing on the middle of the screen not the virtual controls). Why would I want to be a beta test subject for a product whose ecosystem isn't ready for prime time?

5. Jailbreak - no jailbreak sucks. Plain an' simple. And as Pod2G told us a few days ago. There isn't a iOS 6 jailbreak on the horizon. iOS 5 jailbreak took months to get here so why would I want to go months without a jailbreak for? For a 0.5" longer screens that most apps don't even take advantage of the real estate yet? No thanks.

6. LTE - not widespread on AT&T and won't be until next year as they try to catch up with Verizon. Why would I purchase a product whose major new feature isn't even widespread enough to easily take advantage of it?

7. Premium feel - the iPhone 5 feels like a toy in the hand compared to the 4S. The 4S has the sleek look and feel of a premium device while the 5 felt like a lightweight plastic android device in hand.

8. iOS - the 5 doesn't have any software advantages over the 4S, and the hardware changes are hardly an improvement for me. So what is the motivation to upgrade then if the software is the same and the hardware I dislike?

So, after a week I came to the conclusion that the 5 just isn't a worthwhile upgrade over the 4S for me and sold it on Craigslist for $750. Would have gotten more but having a replacement from Apple with a different IMEI # than what is on the originals box %#&!s up your ability to sell it

Stick with the 4S for now guys... The 5 isn't ready for prime time yet and won't be until the 5S is already here ;)

So... got in, tried it out for a week, sold it to make a profit, and I'm back to the better phone for me: the 4S.

p.s. this is only my experience and personal opinion. I don't assume that anyone else feels the same way.

/yawn.

But seriously, I love my 5. The 4S was a great phone, but the larger screen, LTE, faster processor, and actually better battery made the deal for me.

7. Premium feel
I was the same with my 3k mountain bike, it felt light weight and modern so i took it back and am using my premium feel heavy one.

Also my rMBP is so light and tacky feeling, taking it back for the classic chunky one!

Or 8 reasons why he is now banned.

Jess, your amazing!

that sucks, mine was great as well as everyone i've personally met..

mines in perfect condition and i am not gentle with my phone what are you doing?

sorry your hands are small.

.. its only been a week and 3 days

no pod2g said there isnt an untether comming out soon. didnt say it wasnt being worked on.
6. LTE - not widespread on AT&T and won't be until next year as they try to catch up with Verizon. Why would I purchase a product whose major new feature isn't even widespread enough to easily take advantage of it?
thats att's fault, switch carries. their hspa is pretty fast in the mean time.

you have to be kidding.. not even close to a plastic android seeing how there is not plastic... it just feels lighter and less smooth due to less glass..
8. iOS - the 5 doesn't have any software advantages over the 4S, and the hardware changes are hardly an improvement for me. So what is the motivation to upgrade then if the software is the same and the hardware I dislike?
LTE, faste cpu/gpu/bigger screen (that you dont like) better screen quality its way more crisp and vibrant. lightning (some would argue against) earpods, better facetime camera.

not really. most people wont even check that on craigslist.

so because you have small hands, crappy coverage on att, and your apps dont have 5 support after 10 days, we should listen to you?
]p.s. this is only my experience and personal opinion. I don't assume that anyone else feels the same way.
but you just said everyone to get the 5? as if its a fact and buyer beware.. i is confussed :confused:

I like how the OP cites spotty LTE coverage as a mark against the 5. Like, you didn't research if LTE was supported in your area before making that $800 investment?

Hmmm, ok. Desperate for more reasons to knock the phone much?

I'll agree with the jailbreak argument. However, won't the 5S have a larger screen and that premium feel you dislike and are complaining about?

I wish they would take the features of the 5 and put them into a case like the 3GS, it was perfect in the hand, and comfy to hold, I am not a fan of the style bar phone since the 4, but I would rather have the new Retina, then the old screen so hence why I had the 4, then 4S, now 5, however I am contemplating going back to the 4S myself, the 5 does feel a little cheaper, I guess because of the fact it is light, longer, and thinner, overall it does perform well, but not sure I would say it is twice as fast as my 4S though?

I think a good point is made with number 4. The bars at the top and the bottom are nice until the keyboard pops up, suddenly typing feels awkward because the keyboard is not in its normal position. Not sure what they could have done to get around this though.

Man, hold your fantasies to your head. The 4S battery blows. Thats what the 4S stands for. "Hey I got the worst battery on the market!"

My 4S gets about 9 hours of use and 26 hours of standby, and according to what a lot of iPhone 5 owners are getting, the 5 battery isnt that much better than the 4S. I don't even charge my 4S everyday.

I agree that the 4S is better built. I think the 5 looks nice, but it's not good enough for me to upgrade at this point.

I think anyone who went from the 4S to 5 probably shouldn't have. Tested them side by side at Best Buy and the 4S wasn't far behind the 5 at ALL.

But OP, prepare for all the 5 owners to hate on this post.

Read the geekbench results. The 5 absolutely wipes the floor with the 4S in performance. It is hard to notice just using the native apps due to ios 6 optimization but load some intensive third party apps or games and you will definitely see the difference. Also, double the RAM to 1GB = less annoying web page refreshes which is important to me at least.

If all those reasons are true for you then you should obviously return it. The 4S is a great phone. Happily none of them matter to me, except for the letterboxing on some apps, so I'm keeping my 5 which is great.

Why is he a troll? It's not like he's advertising another device, not the iPhone. He's just stating the 4S is a better iPhone than the 5. That's all.

because if someone has a different opinion other than i heart apple..they are a troll didnt you know??

haha i kid i kid.

I know he constantly created threads (a lot of them repeat threads), and most of them were negative.

What I find odd... Is that he started a whole bunch of negative threads about the iPhone 5, then goes and buys one, then creates a rant about why he is returning it.

For me, I have seen so much of the stuff he has posted that I stopped taking him seriously... but I wonder what the actual reason for him being banned was.

lol, he did get banned wth? Yea, I see what you're saying. He pushed it a little too far. I thought he just made this one thread. Sigh.

People that care about those types of things are called resellers. Theyll buy it for 750 and sell it overseas for more. I tell them to take a walk!

How does it screw up your ability to sell it? They aren't giving out refurbs yet, and even if they were, it being a refurb does not hurt it resell value. In fact, on ebay, it's generally a very bad idea to let potential buyers know your serial number at all, so how would they know?

Maybe if jerks like you didn't go through 5 handsets looking for the perfect one, they wouldn't cost $700. Plus, what were you buffing it with? Sand paper?

are you serious? you created a thread to tell us what you thought about the iphone 5? did you ever think that no one here cares what you think?
