How does it screw up your ability to sell it? They aren't giving out refurbs yet, and even if they were, it being a refurb does not hurt it resell value. In fact, on ebay, it's generally a very bad idea to let potential buyers know your serial number at all, so how would they know?

Maybe if jerks like you didn't go through 5 handsets looking for the perfect one, they wouldn't cost $700. Plus, what were you buffing it with? Sand paper?

Seriously, best cure for iPhone OCD? Get laid people

Sorry you didn't like it! You made the right choice (for you).

Personally I could not go back to that tiny screen. Sure, my area doesn't have LTE yet but it will soon and I travel to areas that do. There is also no way I could go back to a slower phone. (I upgraded from a 4, not 4S, so the difference for me was much greater than you.)

I'm a bit bummed some people aren't having a great experience but I'm absolutely loving my i5! :)

I didnt take the time to read the OP, but I would like to make a derogatory comment about him based on the thread title.

But what if she scuffs easily? Should I wrap her in something? Her eyes sometimes look green instead of hazel if I hold her a certain way. If I shake her, she makes a noise. When I put her under a magnifying glass, I see belly button lint. Is that bad? Do you think they'll let me exchange her?....

As soon as you said that you wiped off some of the black on the back of your phone with a micro fiber cloth, I knew this whole story was a load of crap.

Haha, just read the "my iPhone has a rattle" thread, which points out that the camera inside the phone rattles if you shake it. That puts the number of complaints up to eleven now.

If you edit your post to include all eleven, I will amend my review to 5 of 5 stars.

Edit: I spoke too soon... there is also PurpleHazeGate. I can't count all the flaws on two hands anymore, so I'm going to play with some poop I found in my sandbox instead.

The rattle is because of the autofocus lens. It has to be movable to change focal points. If it didn't rattle, it wouldn't function. So why is this a problem?

7. Premium feel
I was the same with my 3k mountain bike, it felt light weight and modern so i took it back and am using my premium feel heavy one.

Also my rMBP is so light and tacky feeling, taking it back for the classic chunky one!

Jess, your amazing!

Yes, yes I am.

Can this double as the official 'I have girl hands' thread?

How bout the 5 owners saying that the 4S is too heavy, maybe they have "girl arms?"

----------

In terms of internal hardware, the 5 is much better, thats a fact.
It should have better internals, it's the newest iPhone. Duh.

----------

Read the geekbench results. The 5 absolutely wipes the floor with the 4S in performance. It is hard to notice just using the native apps due to ios 6 optimization but load some intensive third party apps or games and you will definitely see the difference. Also, double the RAM to 1GB = less annoying web page refreshes which is important to me at least.
On geek bench, sure it beats it.

But side by side the differences between the 4S and 5 performance aren't that noticeable. If you don't agree, you haven't done side by side tests.

I still don't understand the complaints about the scuffs... by now, you should realize that the aluminum case is easily blemished, so if you choose not to put it in a case, it's your own fault.

7. Premium feel - the iPhone 5 feels like a toy in the hand compared to the 4S. The 4S has the sleek look and feel of a premium device while the 5 felt like a lightweight plastic android device in hand.

8. iOS - the 5 doesn't have any software advantages over the 4S, and the hardware changes are hardly an improvement for me. So what is the motivation to upgrade then if the software is the same and the hardware I dislike?

I met a guy at the mall on launch day, bought his 4S as soon as he got his hands on the 5. I arrived a bit early to check out the 5 at the Apple store. My first thought after picking it up was that even though it is thinner, I prefer the touch of the smooth glass and the stronger feel of the steel band on the 4S. I do like the new connector, but for now it's not a convenient switch for me - I have a 30-pin cable on every desk to share with the iPad, don't want another cable to add to the clutter it already is. The extra row of icons doesn't do much for me either, after using the Samsung S3 for couple of months. On top of it I wanted to keep iOS 5.1.1. I gladly handed him the cash for his barely month-old 4S. I'm now switching between the 4S and S3 as I please, which would have been another obstacle with the 5 with its nano SIM.

lets be fair though Sedrick, your posts arent usually of much use to anyone either.
In the future, I'll try to adopt your Apple-can-do-no-wrong attitude when posting. Until then, you can add me to your ignore list. Much like I just did with you.

Ludicrous rebuttals ever. If you can't see why the new iPhone 5 is that good, you seriously need to buy an android device and witness what substandard devices look, feel, and perform like.

It's like I sold my 2010 335i bimmer for the 2004 M3 model because it's just better in 2004.

I got my iP5 on launch day and was very happy to have the new toy. Then... over time the annoyances of the iPhone 5 began to grow.

1. Quality control - right out of the box it had 3 big scratches. I pre-ordered from AT&T so they said I can either return it (w/ a $36 restocking fee) or I can take it to Apple for a replacement (which %#?!s up the ability to sell it, which I later find out).

2. Scuffing - so I go to Apple for a replacement and end up going through three bad ones before finally settling on the 4th. Was a huge hassle and the Apple rep had to call his manager after the first two had scuffs. Then the manager starts huffing / puffing / rolling eyes / looks at me like I'm stupid because I want a flawless product that I paid $700 for. Then I finally get one that I find acceptable and after 4 days the chamfer edges start to show bright silver  If you can't tell I'm highly OCD about my iPhone and take great care of it. I only had it in my pocket, no keys or change at all, and when I used a microfiber cloth to wipe off the fingerprints the black started to wear off and show more silver. Ugh :(

3. Larger screen - larger screen is great right? WRONG. The 4" screen forces me to shift my hand to hit te top row of icons or pull down notification center. I almost dropped my phone a few times doing this.

4. Apps - most apps aren't set up for the larger screen and need to be updated. This could take months, if ever. Certain apps the letterboxing would be a hindrance such as Google Voice (letterbox bar below messes up typing) or games (Im focusing on the middle of the screen not the virtual controls). Why would I want to be a beta test subject for a product whose ecosystem isn't ready for prime time?

5. Jailbreak - no jailbreak sucks. Plain an' simple. And as Pod2G told us a few days ago. There isn't a iOS 6 jailbreak on the horizon. iOS 5 jailbreak took months to get here so why would I want to go months without a jailbreak for? For a 0.5" longer screens that most apps don't even take advantage of the real estate yet? No thanks.

6. LTE - not widespread on AT&T and won't be until next year as they try to catch up with Verizon. Why would I purchase a product whose major new feature isn't even widespread enough to easily take advantage of it?

So, after a week I came to the conclusion that the 5 just isn't a worthwhile upgrade over the 4S for me and sold it on Craigslist for $750. Would have gotten more but having a replacement from Apple with a different IMEI # than what is on the originals box %#&!s up your ability to sell it

Stick with the 4S for now guys... The 5 isn't ready for prime time yet and won't be until the 5S is already here ;)

So... got in, tried it out for a week, sold it to make a profit, and I'm back to the better phone for me: the 4S.

p.s. this is only my experience and personal opinion. I don't assume that anyone else feels the same way.

There is a point of diminishing returns regarding light and thin. Look at some of the starved-looking fashion models. I still maintain that the iPhone 4 and 4s looks and feels quality compared to the 5.

I know he constantly created threads (a lot of them repeat threads), and most of them were negative.

What I find odd... Is that he started a whole bunch of negative threads about the iPhone 5, then goes and buys one, then creates a rant about why he is returning it.

For me, I have seen so much of the stuff he has posted that I stopped taking him seriously... but I wonder what the actual reason for him being banned was.

Exactly.

Regarding number 5 -- didn't chpwn already jailbreak an iP5? Which was then retweeted by musclenerd? Seems like its on the horizon (and by on the horizon, I mean a year or so).

On another note, I've jailbroken every iPhone I've had since the 3g. I feel far less compelled to do so with my iP5. I used to run with a lot of tweaks, but by the time I had my 4S, the only ones I was really using were MultiFl0w, Siri Extensions, and SBSettings. On the iPhone 5, I'm not missing MultiFl0w, and all the Siri Extensions I used (which was primarily the "Launch" command) works in Siri. I will admit I'm really missing SBSettings in the notification tray, but it's not a huge dealbreaker for me

To each their own I guess though.

UPDATE: Guess chpwn's isn't looking too promising from some stuff I just read. Like I mentioned though, at least for me, I'm not really missing the JB. Should also add that another feature I was using on the JB'd 4S was 3g Unrestrictor, primarily for OTA facetime calls. Again, no longer and issue but I'm on VZW, so I don't have to deal with ATTs antics.

I know what you mean. When I saw this thread title and then noticed the OP, I rolled my eyes. I felt like he was on here to just yank peoples' chains.

I'm happy that you are happy now. I hate to see someone regretting a purchase. It's a bad feeling to have.

I have none of the problems that you encountered. I've been using my phone naked for a week now and it has no marks on the bezel whatsoever. Guess I got a good one. The feel is like a fine watch. I love it.
