For my wife, SIRI was a step backwards.

On her 3GS, she could use the 'Call [XXX]' feature even with little or no data connection.

Now with her 4S, since SIRI even forces those simple commands to be interpreted on the SIRI servers, she cannot voice command a call to be made while driving on country roads with little connectivity.

This is VERY frustrating for her. Why oh WHY cannot SIRI let those simple voice commands be handled on the phone? There is plenty of CPU and memory power to do it.

I believe you can turn off siri and revert back to normal voice control

Would be good if they started making it useful outside the US. Atm most queries non-US Siri can cope with, I can do myself with a few taps anyway out of habit.

Give it time, this is not as simple as making Angry birds. Its after all a work in progress.

I use Siri quite often, for defining words that I just can't spell or can't be bothered to spell, making quick reminders & adding things to the calendar.
I'd love to be able to use maps in the UK, and eventually change settings, like toggle wifi etc :)

The question was really per month? Per week would provide more accurate results.

I would say I probably use Siri a few times a week, mainly to set alarms.

If Siri could do some kind of multi-step commands to save me time I would probably use it more. I'm hoping iOS 6 brings some new Siri integration.

I think SIRI is like all the electric gadgets in a car...it is a pretty cool deal, if it is free! Quality vehicles have it and the cheaper models don't. After a while, phones will have something like it, and then we wont remember what it was like to not having SIRI!:D

Really? I mean really? I don't know as I don't have it but it just seems gimmicky to me, but I DO think it certainly has potential, just needs to be more integrated perhaps.
I remember Orange Wildfire, she kicked ass, it was an AI artificial personal assistant. The programmers had a sense of humour too as you could tell it you were depressed to which Wildfire would reply - You're depressed? I have to do this all day...
And there was anything thing about sheep but I can't remember exactly.

Anyway, it's long be scrapped but it was very advanced for it's time I thought it was pretty cool, it also learnt your habits. I think Siri could go this route, become more of an automated learning PA system.

siri is most helpful

I can't imagine why it isn't used when ever you can simplify a function. In the car to send a text or make a call, play music or get directions. If you aren't creative enough to figure out the use for Siri perhaps you should have purchased another phone that was less advanced?!

On behalf of Australia, I'd say 87% of people (have attempted to) use Siri per month.

I bet the survey was done in the US!! in the UK it's bordering on useless, pretty much novelty that wears off very quickly, it more than often can't understand the UK accent, it can't look anything up, but is pretty good at the weather and um well thats about it..
if they could possibly develop it so it's not so US based it would be good, showing an ad with it's ability to find a resturant is somewhat comical over here as it can't! Thats why most of my friends are disappointed with it..

oh but it's only beta..

I have to agree.

Im in the 13% that don't use Siri. She's worthless to me. Like others, it was a cool novelty in the beginning. "Look at what she says to this. Hahaha." But when I really needed to use her for something she failed nearly every time. Doesn't understand something that was said. Can't find something with a quick search. Geo-fencing capabilities fail repeatedly ("Remind me to call my wife when I leave work." and the reminder goes off five minutes later even though I haven't left my desk).

The one thing I'd think would be very useful that I'd use it for more than a gimmick is if they let GPS apps like Navigon and TomTom integrate with it (Wouldn't it be nice to tell it to "Take me to {...}" or "direct me to the nearest {...}")? Especially since that's something you would definitely be using while driving and would make things so much easier (especially if you were travelling and wanted to find somewhere to stop to eat or something).

JB Siri so much > beta Siri.

I use Siri more since I jailbroke my 4S. It was just way too limited in its beta phase. Now I can change settings and launch apps and even have it tell me chuck Norris jokes. Will stay jailbroken until apple wows me out of it.

Weird. I kind of think Siri is a piece of crap. Works about 1/2 the time. Unable to connect to server the other half. I rarely use it and when I do it's to set a reminder. On top of that it tries to set it for the wrong day almost always. But, I give them the benefit of knowing it's still in beta.

re: Siri as a BETA

Does it bother anyone else that Siri was billed as a "Beta"?

I feel like Apple (and other companies) are using the term as a get-out-of-jail-free card when they're called out for half-assing it.
I say this, because it's been what, 4-5 months now since the phone came out, yet there have been no changes whatsoever in features.
The only things changed are in addition of languages.

Anyway, I do like Siri, but I really bought it on the hopes there'd be increased functionality added over time. I mean, that was the whole sell of it being processed-in-the-cloud, right? The fact that they could constantly update and tweak it from the server farms, without needing new hardware.

Dang it. I need to look into that. If she'll tell me jokes or launch apps, I'd use it often.

Making Angry Birds (or any video game) is simple :p

To differentiate their products. They want you to buy both, for more profitz... errr I mean for different purposes.

Siri sucks a lot of battery life, something that the iPad 3 has issues with. You also don't really need it on the iPad. It isn't about differentiating products. HOWEVER they don't have Siri on older devices because they want incentives to buy there new products.

ugh you were so close but then missed it. The BETA is a jail free card, however it isn't because Apple half assed it, its because its an incredibly difficult and complex task to do.

It's a gimmick. Thats why the numbers are low, and the numbers prove that. Feel free to downrank this comment because it doesnt jive well with Apple.

87% is low??,any way I have seen your previous posts if you dont like ios or the like then why do you comment on news relating to them:confused:
