I have never heard such a load of nonsense.
If you bought the iPhone, you bought it.
Thats it.
Stop your obnoxious whining, you useless sods.

EVERY phone drops in price. EVERYTHING drops in price.
Thats it.

Now SHUTUP.

I Just Called My Apple Store Near Me... They Said Come On And Talk To A Manger And See What They Can Do. I Will Go To Apple Store And See What Happens. This So Unfair!

It's folks like you for my suggestion in my signature.

I bought a PowerMac G4 1.25 Ghz 4.6 years ago! Paid $3,299.00 plus an additional 2 GB of RAM and an extra 80 GB HD. Now it is worth $300.00 on eBay. Apple needs to pay me $2,800.00 for the money I lost on this old computer! Contacting my lawyer NOW!!!

It takes some twisted logic to spin a price drop as an act of greed. Please.

A price drop of 30% in two months means that they had huge profit margins to begin with.

They took advantage of the Mac faithful, the ones who stood in line, and basically acted as Beta testers. IMO that's greedy. Certainly not cool.

Can anyone answer this question: does AT&T already have the new priced iPhones in stores by today? As I said some posts ago - I bought a 4gb 6 days ago. Called customer support and they told me that I can change mine for the 8gb, but have to pay a 1)% restocking fee. That means a rebate of 50 bugs + the 8gb iPhone, so I am okay with that :)

I need to go there before the end of the 14 days, but just want to make sure I do it fast, so pref. today. Thanks in advance!

call them up and ask. I called my closest ATT store an hour ago and they were still on the 499/599 price point.

People are cryin' that this is unprecedented, which is bull.

Intel's fastest CPU is typically overpriced, and it drops by more than $200, usually after a month, let alone two.
The Motorola RAZR dropped by half where I live.
Cars typically vary by thousands from dealer to dealer.

And how much does the cost of a car drop when you drive it off the lot? No one complains about that compared to this degree of, well, whining.

Agreed! As a stock holder and early adopter, I would be PISSED if they freely gave out $200M.

As an early adopter, I don't expect anything.
As a stock holder, anything over a $50 GC is unnecessary.

Short sighted little... as both stockholder and early adopter I know the value of good customer relations. It's not about the right now. It's about building customer loyalty. Something they're teetering on losing some of over this issue. At the very least, they'll lose the early adopters in the future. Something that would've destroyed the launch of the iphone.

Give them 50-75 percent back.

I just called Apple in Freehold Raceway... they asked me when I bought mine. Being that I was in line the first day, I really didn't expect them to do much. And they didn't.

Every phone drops 30% of it's price 2 months after introduction?

This is insane.

The bottom line is we all knew a price drop would come, but not $200 within the first 2 months. 6 months to a year and I would have no problem, tech evolves fast i understand that, but not in 2 months. The other point is that apple really does OWE yes I said OWE it to their early adopters because it is US that make products great, it no one buys the product, it doesn't matter how "cool" it is if it doesn't sell. I know best buy has a policy if they drop the price of lets say a tv within 30 or 60 or 90 days they will reimburse you that amount, because it's all about customer loyalty, you should reward the early adopters but also those that wanted to wait. I'm happy that it's cheaper now apple will crush their goal of 1 million by the end of September and 10 million by the end of '08. But they should not screw over those that made the product a freaking hit right off the bat.

OMG APPLE took the credit card out of my pocket and rang the iPhone sale without my permission 2 months ago!

Give me my $200 back APPPLLEEEE!!!

/snark

i got an 8gb iphone yesterday. can i get money back?

You have 14 days to return it. If opened there is a 15% restocking fee. If unopened you can get a full refund.

Also, if you activated with AT&T, they offer 30 days grace period to cancel the service.

Ill say this...At one time in my life I SWORE Id never shop at a Best Buy store againg because they screwed me over, not once, but twice within a week. My Best Buy boycott lasted about 3 months.

I cant seriously believe some of you who say you will never buy an Apple product again over this.

You knew that this thread would be filled up with people airing their (rightful) grievances.

If you don't like it, there's tons of links all over this page that will take you somewhere else.

C'mon

Ya, I get annoyed when I buy something and the price drops, or a better model comes out with more features. This is a large price drop for Apple, historically, but nothing too amazing, either in amount of drop or speed of the drop, compared to other consumer electronics. I've seen deals knock thousands off cars. These things happen, deal with it. I for one am glad to see some aggressive pricing from apple, in the past they have left prices high for far too long. Hope they keep this up.

Now if only someone will knock a blu-ray player down to about $150, and a 50" 1080p HDTV down to $1500......

For Apple loyalists who paid full price for the iPhone two months ago, a $200 price drop (which is huge) so soon after its release is a big deal. For those who haven't purchased the product yet, then no, you're right, it is great news.

Like I said, get over yourself. You are not loyal. You wanted and bought the best cell phone to date, that doesn't make you loyal. One could easily argue you're greedy. If the iPhone had been a Newton with a phone built in and you paid $600 for it that would make you loyal.

I said from the beginning that we will see a phone less iPhone for 299 dollars and today Steve gave it to us.

Further more I told many people that they iPhone is overpriced. Apple is a successful company and Steve is very very smart. They generated a huge iPhone hype which made millions of people buy one during the first weeks. YOU are the ones who paid for a big portion of the R&D.

I knew that the price would be decreased but not this fast and not this steep either. I feel you guys on this one. Steve ****ed you guys in the ass.

Every phone drops 30% of it's price 2 months after introduction?

Micro$oft dropped the Zune price today by $50, the Razr dropped from $800 CAD (yes!) to $199 in a matter of three months.

I dont think its so great, but its the way things are. Cash is King.

You dont like it? Then bring back Socialism......

Yes genius we all understand that! We bought the phones knowing there would be a price cut eventually. But not $200 in 2 months. I guess you didn't buy one did you?

Ignorance is bliss, and please do something about your anger issues. You're officially on my ignore list.

Bottom line...if a $200 price difference really jacks up your lifestyle, you had no business buying a $600 phone in the first place.

I have a phone I paid less than $100 for and an iPod Mini 4gb that I paid....wait a minute...they discontinued the mini...I WANT MY MONEY BACK...sniffle sniffle ...whine whine.

And guess what, the next iPhone will sport 16gb and have more features..and here is the real shocker...it will probably be equal to or GASP...less than $399.

The cable company just lowered the price of my service, so I am off to raise hell about my past 9 months worth of bills...they at least owe me...
