the weird thing about the pricing of the new pro, is that with the seemingly lackluster response to the 12.9 pro (regular sales, resale value for used is really low), I kind of hoped Apple would want to price correct it down by $100, which would have meant the 9.7" pro at $499.

The seemingly lackluster response is two fold;

1 - Apple missed the market, A 13" iOS device priced as a full featured OS has a smaller market.
2 - The smaller format and light weight is what made the iPad the force it is/was.

The "Pro" market wants a 13" fast, full featured file system, access without restriction to all their files, mouse, touch (not so much), display, portability, storage (local and cloud) and long battery life.

A Pro Device can truely multi-task, hook up to multiple screens, do serious video editing, Photoshop, and more. iOS just doesn't have the HP yet.

The 9.7" "Pro" is just the further evolution of the ARM based iOS device and people will love it for what it is.

You have that now - its a rMBP or the rMP with the exception of touch.
So the offering is either a half baked solution with arm and lite apps, or intel OS X without touch.

Or you go windows and get best of both.. no doubt this is the direction it will end, its how long Apple hold out before coming to the inevitable conclusion and proclaim a first...

Wow someone actually gets it. I have the 12" MB and really like it, but it would be even better if it had a the touch and detachable KB like the SP.

What will be really interesting is when it does happen what kind of marketing spin Apple will put on it.
