My bill is like $106 a month and I'm not eligible until 12/10.

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to call them. Today it says I am eligible in December, but if I want to do it now it will be $399 for 16 gig or $499 for 32. 🙁

wow you are definitely closer than me. i have a string of 88s, some 103s, and recently some 95s.
Just talked to ATT for 10 minutes they obviously have no idea what they are talking about. I bought my phone on July 13th, 2 days after the launch, my bills have always been higher than $130 and they have been paid ontime. ATT told me that I was not upgrade eligible because it has not been 18 months I explained that people were receiving the upgrade price even though the phone has only been out for 11 months but I dont think she understood.
My upgrade begins on December 14th which has no relevance to any occurrence with my iPhone 3G, it is 17 months after the launch and has no significance. I am fed up with ATT and think I will just let my contract expire.

$99+ refers to the combination of voice + data plan only, and that's it. Back when this whole brouhaha started I called AT&T and just asked them about the specifics of the criteria, and that is how it was explained.
I asked because in the 6+ years I've been with Cingular/AT&T my lowest bill has been in the $140s and my highest in the $300s due to addition messaging plans and international calls/texting. Because my voice plan ($59.99) + data plan ($30) is equal to $89.99 that makes the eligibility in December as it is above $69 and not June as it is not above $99.

I called in and asked. The website still lists me as December 2009 but the reps over the phone had new information I suppose.
Short answer is as of now you have to call in to get the deal. I have a feeling tomorrow the website will update to reflect the changes.

Date on system say Jan 2010, because I pay 90, though my bill is over 100 before discounts. Cust Svce Rep only knows date on computer, no idea of policy, say only those in July-Sept dates can upgrade now and I am under a year from upgrade so not eligible. I try and say that based on plan, I should be August and within time frame, got nowhere. Phone was ordered last week any way, just hope I can sell 3G for decent money and ATT figures out if policy is bill, early adopters or both.

I am December Eligible.
I called AT & T and she said, "YES, you will get the $299 / 32GB price."
I asked if she were sure, I got her name, etc... But she said it wasn't necessary because tomorrow pretty much every one will be getting the better price.

It seems two things are clear. Everyone should wait until Thursday to get the full scoop and if you get someone on the phone telling you you're eligible, make them note it!

I took the rep's name down and what city he works in in case at&t gives me trouble tomorrow. I am slightly excited but will be pumped if this is true and I can buy one tomorrow!

My bill is $121 and change every month. It has not been lower than $115 in over 2 years. Technically not eligible until January 2010. Even if I become eligible tomorrow, which I damn well better, I don't see myself upgrading. I already have a 3G, and video recording and voice controls just aren't enough for me to upgrade. The spec bumps are nice, but I'll just wait until next June.
