There's already a long running thread like this....also care to be specific? Is that one month of usage?, lifetime? If that's one month, maybe try getting a modem for your home instead of killing the network! lol:)

Not much since I'm usually on a college campus with campus-wide wifi, but since I'm at home now, I'll be using quite a bit more. Pandora or in the car has been a must lately, especially since I can run them in the background now.

I'd say 90% of people that go over the 5gb/month limit are tethering their phone. If they are on AT&T then this is against their Terms of Service and should have their contract revoked. This is also a good reason why AT&T has network issues and the rest of us that obey the rules have to suffer from slower speeds.

Wow, my data usage is small potatoes compared to some of you guys. I need to step it up and start making full use of my unlimited data plan.

Where bunnies are welcome.
I tether, but only when I'm in a situation where I can't use my my home setup. I've probably tethered less than 200 MB. Some of these guys are clearly abusing it for the rest of us.

No he's not but he does have a pretty valid point.

People wonder why they are having so many problems in major metropolitan areas and the like. You have people tethering that shouldn't be doing it. Or, you have people gobbling up excessive amounts of data. There's a reason limits are in place.

Some of you are just greedy SOBs. Eight, Ten gig a month? Really? Who has that much time on their hands?

How'd you know?!?

I just don't like when people clearly abuse contracts and TOS if it has a negative effect on the people who obey the rules. I don't care if you tether once in a while, but using 7-10GB a month is outrageous and it does negatively affect everyone. It seems like some people don't even pay for home internet and just use their iPhone tethered as their main source of internet. In general, I could care less with what people do with their lives as long as it doesn't affect innocent people negatively.

...or needs to download that much porn.

They don't care. This generation is the generation of "take what we/I want and don't care how it effects anyone else". They also think that it's justified in some form or fashion because they were wronged in some way. It seems to be the trend lately. A sad one really.

Just watch the posts about why they use that much and the reasoning. :)

98%=Sirius/XM at work
2%=Tethering to my iPad to update Cydia, Twitter, a few other things

I'm paying for an unlimited data plan already. Maybe there wouldn't be issues if they had smaller plan packages? I don't feel as though my one phone's usage is going to cripple the greater Milwaukee area network, don't worry :)

Once MKE is a "major metropolitan area" that has hundreds of thousands of people on AT&T's network, then maybe I'll stop listening to Sirius at work. I'm paying Sirius an extra $3 a month to be able to use it on my iPhone, should I call them and cancel it?

Also, I have wifi at home and am hooked up to that then. Am I still "evil" by paying two seperate internet bills to two different companies?

you know... some of you guys are getting mad about us using a feature that we pay extra for "unlimited" use. By definition "Unlimited" means as much as I want/please. The crazy thing is all this tethering talk.... Never used it. I work all day and I stream movies from different websites while I am at work. I don't violate the agreement since its use from the phone to the phone.... I guess my point is, you don't have to tether in order to use your phone this much and if i used 100 gigs/month, isn't that what we pay for? stop complaining to the users and start complaining to the network. This place is getting crazy with all the network police... you should be mad at ATT.

See this is what I mean... How about those 7-10 GB you see on my list. Non came from tethering. Not one MB. You are letting ATT brain-wash you. If you pay for unlimited then that's exactly what you should get without affecting the rest of the users... IMO if there is a problem then they should not offer such a plan...PERIOD. So what if I watch movies on my phone all day long while I am at work??? isn't that the reason why I paid for this phone?

There is no problem with what you are doing. That is why I said 90% are tethering. You fall into that 10%. ATT sets the mark at 5GB in their system as a notifier so they know to check if any "illegal" activities are going on. Even if ATT contacted you about using too much data, they would do some research and see that you haven't been tethering and tell you that you are fine. Everything I have said has not been directed at you and I do not think you have been doing anything wrong. If you read my posts again you will see that I disagree with people that violate TOS and use lots of data. There is nothing wrong with you using your phone a lot and obeying the TOS.

How the HELL can yall use 2-7GB and not be tethering?!? Do yall ever put your phones down? I thought I had heavy usage around 500MB but damn i'm barely scrathing the surface. I see why AT&T is point the finger at yall lol, take those 5+ GB users and multiply it by millions that's a hell of a lot of usage.
