Not really good news for the 1.7 million iPhone 4 buyers - they're locked in for a full two years.

You don't suppose AT&T knew this was coming and tried to get everyone locked up in a long term contract.

Been a while since I've seen a thread like this...:D
It's only a matter of time before Apple goes to another carrier here in the US.

Verizon iPhone to Launch in January 2011?

Bloomberg briefly reports that multiple sources are claiming that the iPhone will launch on Verizon in January of next year, marking the end of AT&T's exclusivity for the device in the United States.

Verizon and Apple representatives either declined to comment on the reports or did not return requests for comment.

Verizon has long been a popular topic for rumors regarding expanded iPhone partnerships in the United States. One recent report had suggested that a Verizon iPhone could make an appearance as soon as November, but most observers have been expecting a 2011 launch on the carrier.

With verizon really pushing their android phones, and their love for motorola and HTC. I'd guess this is gonna be the same as the rumors that have been going on for years now.

That would be nifty, would still use AT&T though. Oddly enough, I get MUCH better coverage with AT&T where I am.

Would still be cool if they had it on Verizon though. If only for the fact it would be interesting to see Android vs iPhone sales figures if they're both on the same carrier.

Gotta love the vagueness of that post.

"2 people familiar with the plans..." "apple declined to comment" "verizon refused to comment"....

Media outlets and new sources have been confirming a Verizon iPhone coming soon since it was announced in January of 2007. I believe we were supposed to hear of a Verizon iPhone announcement at every WWDC so far. And this years we were supposed to hear something again. And why is this pushed back then. I thought it was confirmed that it was coming out in November of this year?

Basically, sarcasm aside, I highly doubt Bloomberg knows anything. When Apple says it, then I'll believe it. Until then, this "news" is basically worthless rumor.

And plus, Verizon announced at it's nationwide store meetings on Sunday that it has no interest in the iPhone, they're successful enough with Android. So whatever.

As they say: "pics or it didn't happen"

Rumors of 'top sources' on this have been wrong for years...
