So Apple is gonna make a whole different CDMA phone just for Verizon? Good luck with the resale value on that black sheep crappy iPhone that won't work anywhere else in the world except on Verizon.

Unlike the GSM iPhones we have now that can be unlocked and used anywhere in the world, CDMA doesn't use SIM cards so it will be locked to Verizon permanently. Have fun trying to sell those crappy phones people, have fun.

Hope this is true! Then all the people that want Verizon can go switch to them and help me get even better service from AT&T. I'm actually happy with my AT&T service since, I get a discount with my company. Also, the fact a good 80-90% of my contacts use AT&T (no they don't all have iPhones) so I rarely use my mobile minutes and have about 3xxx rollover minutes saved up.

Not really good news for the 1.7 million iPhone 4 buyers - they're locked in for a full two years.

You don't suppose AT&T knew this was coming and tried to get everyone locked up in a long term contract.
No, no, you don't get it. This is GREAT news for AT&T iPhone customers. The more people that leave AT&T (or opt for Verizon instead) the better my experience will be.

The more (carriers) the merrier. Please let this come to pass.

Will these rumors ever end???

Competition is good. However, Verizon can't match the speed of AT&T and can't offer concurrent Voice and Data. With the new iPhone 4, up and down rates are screaming fast.

it's a shame ATT had nearly four years to get their network up to speed with Verizon's or at the very least, fix their image that their network was just as strong. I don't think they've done either.

Don't expect Verizon's network to be perfect either once the iPhone takes it to the limit. Still probably better than AT&T on average though. But high traffic areas still might feel the strain.

CDMA = No Voice and Data at the same time. Suck.

Actually, I thought Verizon was implementing a new protocol on their network that would allow for simultaneous voice and data. Can't remember what revision of the spec is off the top of my head. Anyone?

I can only hope...

That officially delays my iPhone 4 Upgrade. I desperately don't want to give AT&T another 2 years of my cash for crap service. Please Verizon, get this done!

I am starting to get sick of the Verizon iPhone rumors.

I would like it as much as the next Verizon customer but come on! Stop getting my hopes up! :p

We still have 30 days from purchase date to return it and cancel the contract though, right?

Yep. Its also been said that it would come out in january 2008, march 2008, november 2008, january 2009, march 2009, september 2009. etc etc etc etc etc.

Another verizon rumor thread making front page??!? Who'd have guessed??

I honestly hope a verizon iPhone comes out soon.. I'm tired of seeing these damn posts

According to a friend that has a brother who is a garbage man, the iPhone will be available on virgin mobile.

ITS NOT HAPPENING!!!!

Completely false.

You're right, there's a revision of the CDMA spec that allows for it (it's called SVDO ). The handset maker only has to choose a radio that allows it.

Lte

Does this coincide with Verizon's LTE launch?

Note ATT & Verizon are moving to LTE networks.

Well as many of us have said here--choose the carrier first then the phone.
