Which iPhone? You said you bought it March 2, New or used?

I bought my 64gb 8 plus in a couple of days after the release and it has 98% capacity, not sure if that's good or bad, but there you have one more to compare with

My 8 plus is new, bought it a few days ago. Battery 100%. I’d call Apple Support.

Relax. Your battery % will fluctuate even when it's brand new. It's not uncommon to see the battery capacity roam between 97% and 104% straight out of the box.
yeah its my first time using an iphone im probably over exaggerated.

My 5 month old iPhone X shows 100% battery health. It's still cool where I live so perhaps that makes a difference at this time of year. However, the battery health indicator is still in beta so it's like just an estimate anyway.

It depends on how you charge the phone. Do you let it plugged for a very long time even when it's a 100%? Does your phone get too hot while charging? Does your phone get too hot almost everytime? The more heat the more battery wear.

The vast majority of people will kill their batteries in 2 ways:

Power users who go thru a lot of cycles.

People who use their phone for GPS in their car with direct sunlight and charging. That easily puts the phone over 100F

launch day 8, fairly light user, 77 cycles, 97% here which kinda sucks (confirmed 97.3% with coconut battery, kinda sucks but oh well i guess

That's not bad. You've lost 3% in 77 cycles. Apple claims you'll be at or above 80% after 500 cycles. You're on pace to have more than 80% after 500 cycles, assuming the battery loses capacity in a linear fashion. You're losing 1% every 25 cycles right now. At your current rate, you will be at 86% in 2 years. By then you can either replace your battery or phone.

Yeah it's not bad, just seems like everyone else is at 98-100 on their 8/8+ from what ive seen

Bought my 8 on launch still 100% almost exclusively docked on a wireless charger at night and at my desk during the day. Only time I plug in is when traveling.
