$99 Touchpad is back in stock :O

My local BestBuy got a shipment in today. 55 of them sold in less than 5 minutes. They turned down about 10 people, my brother and I included.
 
wtf, I woke up about 2.5 hrs ago and checked the hp site and it said coming soon, so I go to sleep ... wake up an hour later and they are sold out ...
so i am like well ya snooze ya lose so ok ... i missed it... so I go to check my email cause hp said they'd email me when it came available and there is no email??? I check my spam box nothing there either!
so I wait till now, cause maybe my email server was slow or what not .. still no email .
why in the heck would they set up a notify me system then, list the product and refuse to send out the email when it is listed... did they just want to collect emails to sell to spammers or something?
I figured they would sell out fast, but it was a little rude to collect emails and then not even bother to use them...
not that hp cares I guess....'did anyone get the email from
hp when it listed?

read several places that HP only changed the status none really went up for sale. Last night every rumor says sometime next week. Time will tell if the rumors are correct.

By buying an HP Touchpad you aren't giving them money, they are giving you $200+ since they sell at a significant loss.

This whole touchpad ordeal has been a royal cluster f...it's exposed the worst in online ordering systems for bandwidth, inventory tracking, order communication, and holds on credit card pending charges.

And this mystery trickling of stock to random BestBuy stores is BB BS!

Unless I see a statement for $200 in my bank account that is complete BS. I wouldn't pay a penny for a product that is going down the toilet.

Then why are you paying any attention to it?

Honestly, bargains really bring out the worst in people. They care so much about themselves that they ignore the importance of jobs, economy and business. And its not even black friday yet!

At first I thought its crazy to firesale rather than gradually lower the price to minimize losses. But the way this has gone down then WebOS is getting more attention in a week than it has in two years.

Its still a crazy move by HP, but IF their intention is to sell off WebOS then they've established a decent user base and marketed the product far beyond what Pacquio or Russel Brand ever could so maybe they've created long term value to WebOS as a platform and as a competitor.

(BTW. Anyone who says WebOS sucks or lacks potential hasn't used it because there's a lot here I'd love to get on the next iPad)

Well, HP has been the first non-apple company to generate a frenzy about a product. What's next? Scalpers waiting all night?

Of course, HP isn't making a dime off of all of this :)
 
Not to mention bringing out the HP haters and even a few trolls. This honor is normally reserved for Apple. So good job HP. Btw others might want to know they do plan to support the Touchpad and Webos.

I do - every time I sell a touchpad I bought for 99 to someone that pays 300 for it on Craigslist. Ok $250 but close enough. ;)
 
I thought about this, but I have an iPad and I'm not sure that it's worth it even at $99. I was tempted however at that price. If they were so great, they'd not be shutting it all down and blowing them out at $99. I'll just put that 99 aside for the iPad 3 when it comes out.
