If you ship anything of value via UPS, it is so important you have them pack it, otherwise the insurance is worthless.

I stood on the other handle, bounced up and down, and it wouldn't budge, so I'm not sure how this handle got so banged up. This machine is SOLID, Somehow, UPS managed to drop it so hard, the door won't come off. Pay UPS to pack your items "professionally". They could ***** your ***** up.

For sale: Mac Pro quad-core 2.66 GHz, 6GB ram, 500GB hard drive. In excellent condition.

Why do I feel like I've seen this exact photo on these forums before....

Whenever shipping high ticket items have it packed professionally and watch the packing process. All shipping companies damage the occasional package. Common sense.

uhhhh thats not a good thing.

Very convincing argument :p

I'd much rather have FedEx delivering things as valuable as a Mac Pro than UPS anyday. I had a few hard drives delivered the other day, its like UPS doesn't care at all whats in the box. And same with other things I've gotten too. The box has been crushed in, and even the box inside was crushed. Not a good thing when theres something valuable in it.

Speaking from someone with a relative who have worked at both companies, they are essentially the same thing when it comes to handling.

Well maybe I have just had bad luck with UPS then. In which case I am sure people have had just as bad of luck with FedEx. Seems like all companies have their downfalls.

Indeed. From a sheer numbers standpoint each company will damage goods, that is unavoidable.

The positives about FEDEX above are true, but the other one is because it's not unionized, and that each delivery person is a sub-contractor, they get paid by the delivery. So, the more they get done in a day the more they make. Fedex is consistently delivering early, whereas UPS is normally late.

You mean before schedule or early as in earlier in the day?

Personally I have always had my FedEx stuff delivered earlier in the day than UPS. Haven't had any experiences where either of them is off schedule though.

I have items coming in on a daily basis via UPS and FedEx - I can count the multiple times that UPS has delivered damaged boxes. I actually have a video cam setup at the door so I can submit evidence when filing a claim, that the box was delivered in a crushed/smashed state.

No, I mean that FEDEX has consistently delivered a day or 2 early . . . not earlier in the day. UPS has never done that, but Fedex doesn't mind delivering early.

My UPS and FEDEX guys are great. Then again I tip them $50 each during the holidays.

No doubt you have your hand on the pulse of the shipping industry.

I did that, and this is the result. I brought the computer into UPS, with no box at all. They packed it, and it arrived to the buyer just like this.

That's one of the reasons I started the thread. I put the word "professionally" in quotes to illustrate sarcasm.

It sounds like the OP was intending to sell that Mac Pro, but got it returned to him because of shipping damage? Or something along those lines, through non-Apple related means.
