BTW, the Flash discussions and all the protestations of HTML5, processor use, etc, etc are just fanboy BS. This is a matter of control. Adobe refused to bend over for Jobs and give him control over Flash, as he has control over every other app allowed in the Store. Period. You have to admire the cohesiveness of the Apple Fanboy Community. It's truly remarkable. If only M$ could have fostered such loyalty...

Truly I am NOT trying to insight a riot here but being a WP7 user I have noticed MS did not and has not bowed to Adobe's Flash with WP7 and seems they have no intention of doing so either, hopefully with both Apple and MS not giving in on the Flash issue Adobe will get off their high horse.. It's like a pissing contest where we are at the receiving end...

I guess it depends if you think (as some Apple Fans do) That a large company such as Adobe want to have their product look bad around the world, and go out their way to make it run badly on Apple products.

But do you think a day will come, or already it is this way, when the iPad will be the perfect computer on the go or secondary device instead of a laptop? Meaning can it be that secondary device not third?
It is already my secondary device and my laptop is third ( if we don't count the iPhone, which is pocketable and I carry everywhere). If you are asking whether it will eventually have a bluray player and an 18 inch screen, I would say no.

All tech can and will improve, so I don't expect the tablet market to be any different. Wasn't it less than a year ago when Apple created a market for others to copy? However, it remains to be seen just how much any improvements change the user experience to a huge degree. I mean, are people really going to use the outward facing camera that much with a device this size? I know I won't. There is obviously a trade off for portability when you consider screen size, disc space, etc...

The main complaint is the lack of flash and Apple could add that if it does actually have a material effect on sales. However, the trade offs for features like airplay, integration with iTunes, ALAC compatibility, etc...will make a lot of people overlook the lack of Flash..especially when you can use Skyfire or Splashtop to get around this issue to some extent.

Pinger,

I was disappointed with my iPad too. Mine was a gift so I didn't waste any money on it. It's been sitting in my desk for the past few months. Since it was a gift I don't have the heart to sell it or give it away. I took it with me this past summer to Spain and it sat in the hotel room for most of the trip. I actually went out and bought a Dell Mini notebook on vacation and my world opened up! It's like an ipad on steroids, but just as small and cheaper.

One post wonder that joined the site 5 days ago just to post this comment?

So you left an iPad in your desk for over 6 months, never used it, took it to Spain six months ago, and didn't use it there either? You love your new Dell Mini, but you're too sensitive to sell or give away your iPad? Wow you must be rich? How is a Dell Mini like an iPad at all?

Not that I will every receive a response.

This is Dell's new marketing strategy, posting on Mac centric forums to dissuade potential Mac and Apple product buyers, and convince them that Dell has a solution. I've seen this this alot lately on MacRumors and other Apple centric forums.

Not saying MadMoney is a Dell marketer but if Dell is doing this I wouldn't call it a strategy rather spamming at it's absolute worse.. Just totally underhanded..
Myself, I have been quite dissatisfied with Dell these past few years, I bought 3 laptops and all three had to be replaced due to defects and hardware failure.. In every case only after stern exchanges between myself and their support personnel did they replace these laptops. Where as I bought my daughter a MacBook for graduation 3 years ago and it has been flawless. I wish I could go the Mac route myself but between work software plus I have sunk a lot of money into personal software(Photoshop CS, Office Suites ect..) it's just not feasible for me.

Bootcamp or VMFusion/Parallels gives you the best of both worlds.

I for one am actually really happy to have my iPad :) Over the past six months I've been debating specs of which MBP I wanted to buy. Now I actually have a good Internet speed at my apartment, so I use the iPad as a "laptop replacement". Now I can put my MBP money toward an even higher spec'd iMac soon. Plus I won't have to deal with a crappy Dell anymore  (definitely not a Dell employee, but my XPS 210 worked amazingly [in 2007])

Function wise, the iPad is fantastic. I love it and think it has been well worth the money

But, I am continually set back by the 2gb cap and I do not use video streaming whatsoever.

So, I am quite disappointed as well in that I do not do quite a bit of things that I wish I could do because of the laughable/criminal 2gb cap

Verizon iPad 2.

Aww jeah.

Too bad it´s not 100%. Otherwise you could sell your MBP away and get some cash! But now you can´t, ´cause you need it still for the 30%.

Apple really knows how to milk it! ;)

Well, I don't really expect it to fully replace it. That would be impossible at this time, but I really like the way these two complement each other.
