It's not about you. Marvel comics is American.
Again, it's not about you, now, is it?
And yes it is a comic, so they are perfectly free to make up their own pantheon. (In a sense that's exactly what they do, the comics are all about the characters.) Utilizing a real world pantheon is just bad form, pretty limp, and utterly needless.
This is exactly the same as using Old testament characters with their superheroes, and proclaim Ashley Johnson as being the True Abraham, since she is the one now wielding the tablets. Even if you ignore pissing off people who for whatever reason care about these characters (which again, is bad form), having Ashley be Abraham, the wielder of Tablets, is just really, really bizarre and bad storytelling.
No, you are right, it's all about you.
It's a new world, and you are the minority of hurt feelings on this one. Sorry to break it to you. I would be totally ok with Ashley, and so would a majority of this world. If you don't like it, don't read it.
Also, making a superhero out of anyone in the old testament would be boring and lame. Unless you used Jesus, as he is the only character with 'powers'... You have no reason to be offended by a comic. It's a COMIC. Fables and fiction, just like the original 'historical documents'.
