It's not about you. Marvel comics is American.

Again, it's not about you, now, is it?
And yes it is a comic, so they are perfectly free to make up their own pantheon. (In a sense that's exactly what they do, the comics are all about the characters.) Utilizing a real world pantheon is just bad form, pretty limp, and utterly needless.

This is exactly the same as using Old testament characters with their superheroes, and proclaim Ashley Johnson as being the True Abraham, since she is the one now wielding the tablets. Even if you ignore pissing off people who for whatever reason care about these characters (which again, is bad form), having Ashley be Abraham, the wielder of Tablets, is just really, really bizarre and bad storytelling.

No, you are right, it's all about you.
It's a new world, and you are the minority of hurt feelings on this one. Sorry to break it to you. I would be totally ok with Ashley, and so would a majority of this world. If you don't like it, don't read it.

Also, making a superhero out of anyone in the old testament would be boring and lame. Unless you used Jesus, as he is the only character with 'powers'... You have no reason to be offended by a comic. It's a COMIC. Fables and fiction, just like the original 'historical documents'.

When Beta Ray Bill picked up Mjölnir no one called him Thor.

Thor is a person, not a title bestowed upon anyone that is worthy.

When James Rhodes first became Iron Man, no one knew.

For Captain America, keep in mind from ten years ago...

Thor apparently is being changed to a title.

It's asinine is what it is.

I won't buy a single Marvel Comic while this bootleg "Thor" is in place. Been a collector for 30 years, and this move is point PIS, PC, BS and completely spits in the face of the fans of the series.

This makes Sentry seem genius.

Yet again, you have no problem with Nick Fury nor Iron Man.

Talk about hypocrisy.

This is not them being PC, no matter how much you wish it was.

Anyone can be Iron Man. The power is the suit. And it was a secret that Tony was a drunk for a long time. No one knew Rhodes was Iron Man.

Thor is not just the holder of the hammer. When Odin says "where is my son," he's not talking about anyone but Thor, the real Thor.

Nick Fury turning black was the Ultimates, which I'm no fan of.

Actually there is precedence for a woman wielding Mjølnir. Even from its first appearance in Journey into Mystery, it's had a creed etched into the Uru of the head;

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Jane Foster
Steven Rogers
Bör
Odin
Beta Ray Bill
Ororo Munroe
Buri

After asking both the writer of the title and the artist, Thor will remain named Thor. They only reason why they are calling her Thor in all the media stuff is to stave off the derivative "She-Thor" and "Thorette" ******** that the media loves to name ****. She will be the Bringer of Storms, she will hold the rank and title of Prince of Asgard (not Crown-Prince as that is and will always be Baldur).

So when Odin says "Where is my son?" Thor Odinsson will say here (as well as Tyr, Baldur, Vidar, Hermod and Loki Laufeyjarson will too, and don't get me started on Laufey being misgendered in the comic).

They won't even need to change the costume for the latino Capt'n.:D

Living in PR, so I came to post this, but you went ahead of me lol.

-------------------------

I think the next obvious superhero to go black should be Flash, we already have the fastest man alive calling himself bolt… But is DC so they don't like to change it up. Also, Wonder Woman should be latina/indigenous just makes sense.

So Thor gets a sex change and Captain America gets a tan... yeah, seems like we live in a real age of mediocrity where a woman or person of colour super hero can't be a unique individual but needs to be on the cape tail of an already recognizable super hero. This is truly pathetic.

Next will be Rue Paul playing Wonder Woman who is undercover as the Hulk.

Again - all pathetic.

Its Hollywood they do whatever they want to do, have you seen the cast of the up coming movie Exodus: Gods and Kings with Christian Bale they cast a whole egyptian race to white, I don't see you complainers complaining about that, let alone all the classics with Elizabeth Taylory in them. So with that said, get over it. Hollywood has been doing this since they turned on their first camera.

I very much appreciate what you are saying about Hollywood. They use star power to draw people to movies. Then again, we also see the reverse (just for the sake of discussion here) of "all black cast" of shows that had no origins in black culture or history such as "The Wiz".

Egypt in its past was rather cosmopolitan when it came to races and certainly mixes of races. We have seen many advocate that all Pharaohs were of black African origins which simply was not the case. Similar can be said of Cleopatra, whose ancestry is from the House of the Ptolemaic dynasty which if I recall correctly, started in what is now Yugoslavia.

My disdain is for not considering "Falcon" a worthwhile character to carry on for Captain America and retain the name Falcon. If they want to retire Captain America that is fine, but to make the Falcon "less than" is the crux of my dislike.

Think about it this way.. There were at least three different people who played Bucky in the Marvel Universe (going off of memory here). One of them changed his name altogether, becoming Nomad. When he did that, in an attempt to get out of Cap's shadow, it didn't go well; the best of him being a mash-up during the PPTSSM series, then you really never heard of him again.

I can see why Marvel went this route, as if they tried to carry on with Falcon and make him a brand name, it probably wouldn't go well either.

Black Captain America

What is the meaning of "Black Captain America"
Bucky_Barnes_Leather_Vest-700x700.jpg

Is there any chance to make black bucky ?? It's not sounds good
Well I don't know what happened with Captain America in new session but I don't want to change Bucky Barnes because now i have his vest which actually I bought from "Slimfit Jackets" online store.

Oh god, the pic of the Winter Soldier figure made me remember Bucky's recent run as Cap. As much as I love Alex Ross as an artist, when he does original designs they look like they came out of the Ice Capades.

These was a black Bucky when John Walker was Captain America.

He changed his name to Battlestar later in the comics.

Yet another retread from the House of Idea. Replacing an existing white male character with a female or ethnic version has been both DC and Marvel's go-to strategy for "innovating" for over 40 years now.

The worst part is that they're just diluting one of the best African-American superheroes ever created. Sam Wilson is a dynamic, compelling character as the Falcon. He doesn't need a stint as substitute Captain America to make him interesting.

Sam Wilson should be Sam Wilson and not "Captain America." Let him stand on his own merits and be celebrated for that.

It's a lame, tired ploy, .
100% agree

Can you be any more racist and misogynistic?
Not sure you quite understand the meaning of those words!

QUOTE="phrehdd, post: 19372759, member: 241695"] As for your comment on racist and misgynistic - typical dolt offering from those that refuse to think and resort to such labels. Yawn.[/QUOTE]
Agreed, it normally starts with insults and pathos, then if one dares to defy the echo chamber, or utilise logic; they are then quick to play the victim.

This is coming from a non-white, non-hetro; who holds the radical disposition that I give a rat's ass what sex, gender, colour, or favourite Pokemon one has

1. Thor will remain a guy. The new woman, is wielding Mjølnir, her name/identity hasn't been revealed, but she is not the Odinsson.

2. Sam Wilson's been a hero in his own right for decades. On top of that, he's been Steve's closest friend and ally, so it's only logical that Steve would pick Sam as his replacement.

3. Can you be any more racist and misogynistic?

Exactly, she will be Odinsdotter ;)

And why not?!? It worked in 'Blazing Saddles'! - Dave Chappelle, on being anointed Sheriff of Rottingham, in Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Straight off the heels of Thor, Marvel comes out with another blast.

So a Black Cap, a Black Nick Fury, a Black SpiderMan, and a Black Iron Man (though Iron Man has been around for a while). This has come a long way.

BL.
So after the Black Captain America, are we also entitled to a Muslim Captain America?

Does she wear a burkha?

I should correct myself, and surprised @Technarchy didn't call me out on it! :D

We don't have a female, Muslim Captain Marvel. We have a female, Muslim Ms. Marvel.

Does she where a burkha?

Not when she's whoopin' your ass.

But her mother does, especially when she grounds her.
