Actually there is precedence for a woman wielding Mjølnir.

Irrelevent and not the point.

Even from its first appearance in Journey into Mystery, it's had a creed etched into the Uru of the head;

"Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

Correct

Beta Ray Bill

I own the issue where Beta Ray Bill first appeared. Thor Unleashed run under Walt Simonson was the best ever written for Thor.

However, when Beta Ray Bill picked up Mjolnir, HE WAS NOT THOR!! He was Beta Ray Bill before, and Beta Ray Bill after. Yes, Eric Masterson assumed the role as Thor, but very few people knew. It was largely a secret in fact.

No one is going to confuse Jane Foster Thor with Thor Odinson. Furthermore, when Foster first picked up Mjolnir in another multiverse she was Thordis, not Thor. She could have taken on the name of Torunn, which is a name not used in Marvel 616, but still part of the Thor expanded lore.

I should correct myself, and surprised @Technarchy didn't call me out on it! :D

We don't have a female, Muslim Captain Marvel. We have a female, Muslim Ms. Marvel.

Does she where a burkha?

Not when she's whoopin' your ass.

But her mother does, especially when she grounds her.

Then according to that comic, the "Muslim" Ms. Marvel is a false narrative. :) Yes, her character history indicates she comes from a Muslim family, but her character portrays itself as anything but Muslim. In fact, the comic (above) shows her to be a REBEL…. and anti-Muslim, anti-establishment, anti-tradition-of-her-ancestors. She's going against the grain of Muslim tenets and traditions. She's anti-Muslim Ms. Marvel, is what she is.

I like it. There should be more black superheroes. I don't see why Captain America has to be a certain race. America is a melting pot. However, if it's just some SJW plot to get more black people into movies, it's pretty pathetic. The #OscarsSoWhite whining kind of was too. The Ghostbusters movie with all women was a flop. Hollywood just needs some new ideas instead of recycling everything.

Making some progress in that.

Nick Fury.
Spiderman.
Power Man (though he was always black).
Rogue (same here).
Alicia Masters (though no powers).
Iron Man II War Machine.

There were a lot more back in the 80s era that escape me, but for the major characters still around, there's some progress being made.

BL.

John Walker would have killed Cage...literally.

No argument there.

But I was asking (and you can help me out here, for as you know, my recollection of Cap ended right around 1990), because how many Caps have there been now? I count 6, with 4 being dead, but again, that ended right around 1990, and that includes all of the times Rogers has come back.

"Progress"?

Off the top of my head...

Power Man (Luke Cage)
War Machine, who was actually Iron Man for awhile when Tony was a drunk
Black Panther
Storm
Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau)
Blade
Cloak (of Cloak and Dagger)
Goliath (Bill Foster)
Bishop
DeathLok
Falcon

Spawn (Non-Marvel character)

I have no idea why people act like black heroes are new to comics. I could make a ridiculously powerful Avengers class team from the names mentioned above without reimagining any already established characters. Marvel comics has been very diverse since the 80's.

As the internet and society gets more and more complex and saturated, a lot of people opt out of many forms of entertainment that were once viable like TV shows and radio.

Its like a mass flight away from traditional forms of entertainment has occurred and in the vacuum all that is left is the lesser trendy, lower IQ members of society. (Aunts, uncles, old people, minorities, people immigrated from other countries, casual consumers, cucks etc...)

So you ask yourself why you always see "multiculturalism" on TV and advertising...

Thats because those ads work. They make people money. Minorities or groups who are anti-white all spend CASH MONEY and react to any ads that involve a "multicultural tone" and they usually have an attitude of some sort of takeover where they opt out of any media that isnt in that tone.

The liberal media knows there is money left in this because the only people that consume traditional media are the same social groups that are obsessed with multiculturalism and have nothing invested in white middle-americas style and cultural values.

If you have a piece of chit media product, you can increase the audience exponentially just by tapping into racist people who love to see anybody other than a straight white male in ads.

White people in turn dont care either way. So why advertise to them?

These racial choices are made by money and profit. Nothing else. Being anti straight white male is an industry now.

Agreed. I didn't go back that far because back at that time, comics were as geeky/nerdy as D&D. However, Sunspot was Brazilian. would he be considered black?

Given my avatar handle, it's obvious I'm a New Mutants fan. I'm 50/50 on Sunspot because some artists make him more European looking while others make him more afrocentric.

At the time when the New Mutants were killed by Beyonder, my favorite New Mutants issue, I'd consider him more black than white.

That's interesting. I remember seeing him and Warlock in an issue of Power Pack that definitely occurred after Secret Wars II, and I thought I saw most of the New Mutants in that one. Would have been issue #33, whereas Secret Wars II was around issue #18 in that series.

Either way, Sunspot is in. :)

He (Beyonder) resurrects the New Mutants in Secret Wars II to defend him and the birthing machine.

And from what I recall Sunspot is the only one not killed because he is in Brazil. All the others got slaughtered and erased from existence.

If Al Pacino can play a Cuban, elizabeth taylor can play an Egyptian, Ben Affleck can play Antonio Mendez, Johnny Depp can play Tonto, Christian Bale can play Moses, + many many more roles...

I don't see the problem with a black or any person playing a comic book character.

That's ace! I mean you get black people in America, so why not a black Captain America! :)

Why not?

That's not really the point. If Rhodes can be Iron Man, Wilson can be cap. Though the greater question is does it make sense from a story perspective in the same way the Rhodes story was pretty damn fantastic.

And is Sam Wilson even capable of being Cap without getting killed or mangled?

Rhodes was Ironman's engineer pilot and best friend (I don't know why they changed him) and substituted for his friend Tony when Tony's drinking went overboard! Later on he became War Machine to help Tony in situations!

Not so much a super hero but there is also Chapel (Image Comics) which I liked a lot. I freaking loved Spawn when Greg Capullo and Todd McFarlene.

And why not?!? It worked in 'Blazing Saddles'! - Dave Chappelle, on being anointed Sheriff of Rottingham, in Robin Hood: Men in Tights

Straight off the heels of Thor, Marvel comes out with another blast.

http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way...arvel-announces-big-change-to-captain-america

So a Black Cap, a Black Nick Fury, a Black SpiderMan, and a Black Iron Man (though Iron Man has been around for a while). This has come a long way.

BL.

This trend is rediculously lazy. If they need non-white gender swapping super heroes they should be creative enough to come up with new ones. Next thing you know we'll have a Star Wars flick where Yoda is a gender shifting Vaulcan.
