Looks an awful lot like the "iPhone 5" mockup rumors that were swirling around for months before the 4S came out lol.

LOVE the black and silver combo. Wish they offered this color combo on the iPhone. I bought the iPhone 5 in Silver/White because I love the classic Silver Apple color.

As others have said, this color combo/look in an iPhone would be awesome. Not a fan of the hard edges on iPhone 5 since they get marked up pretty easy without a case. The smooth edges on the back would hold up a lot better.

Bit like the original iPhone

I like it and hope it's a sign of things to come. You could be having a MacBook and an iPhone on a desk looking like they were made by the same company again .....

Nothing like a little teaser.

That is the best looking iPod touch yet. It looks so much better without the wrist strap support.

I wouldn't mind seeing the iPhone take cues from this design. The comments are right, echos the original iPhone design. Almost an homage.

Wow

Following yesterday's introduction of a new entry-level fifth-generation iPod touch with 16 GB of storage and lacking a rear camera, Apple's retail stores began carrying the device today. Australian Ben Pasternak was one of the first to purchase the new iPod touch, and he has posted a brief video overview of it.

While the body design is nearly identical to the existing fifth-generation iPod touch, merely lacking the rear camera and support for Apple's Loop wrist strap, the video provides a good look at the unique color scheme for the new model, which carries a black front and silver back.

The new 16 GB iPod touch is priced at $229, compared to $299/$399 for the 32/64 GB models. With the introduction of the 16 GB model, Apple has discontinued the fourth-generation iPod touch, which it had continued to offer at $199 (16 GB) and $249 (32 GB) alongside the fifth-generation models since their launch late last year.

You have to admit that these pictures of the new iPod touch are
quite thrilling! Amazing! Unbelievable something Samsung could never equal

I love it. The only reason I "can't" buy it, is because it has no FM/AM-tuner...I use live-radio daily when commuting on my bike.

The old radiosignal will not be "shot down" in the comming 5 years.

Love my ipod nano 5th in silver with radio. This was a great chance for a good update. But, no radio - not a buy for me. Damn it! Its really nice.

If the cheap iPhone has the same design (though a bit thicker), same processor, same amount of ram, 16GB of storage and possibly same 1.3mp (or whatever resolution the front is) with 720p cameras at the front AND back for $349? That would be perfect.

One more reason

I see multiple differences and reasoning behind this new model iPod:-

1. Close to WWDC, and the previous generation would not be able to handle iOS 7 due to its slower hardware, the screen was smaller, and was not an IPS display. Now this new iPod touch has the same iPhone 5 / iPod touch screen as the current generations, and the same hardware as the current iPod touch range with the rear camera.

2. Camera on rear was removed to make it cheaper, and possibly thinner and lighter. This also fills the game as the 4th generation of iPod with the chrome back is not longer available. The pop up strap hook has also been removed as well.

3. Notice on the this new iPod touch the power button and volume buttons on the side are now black, instead of silver on the current model iPod touch with rear camera. This breaks up all the silver especially along the metal frame around it - I like this.

4. The Apple Logo on the back appears to be Black as well, no more shiny mirror surface for the logo.

And iamthinking number 5=
No rear camera allows this model to be "health club friendly" and could be allowed in to places where they have "no rear camera" policies ??

I wish they kept this black and silver with the iPhone.

I hate white on silver and black on the ugly black aluminum. Just like iPhone 4 and 4S, and the original iPhone. Black in a matte silver.

Yes I wish if they kept the silver with the black, I would upgrade to iPhone 5S just for that.

Now I wonder is this new iPod Touch with no camera is thinner than the current fifth generation iPod touch with camera?

It still has a front camera/video which would still not cut it in areas that don't allow cameras. This includes government, gyms, many tech companies, etc.

Just because it doesn't have a back camera (it's 2013, why not) it still will be banned.

Form over function and overpriced given the specs.
