One more thing:I'm able to do it on 9.1 PB3, thanks for the tip!
How do you figure? That's how it works. You have to press to enter "cursor" mode, or whatever their calling at and then you have to press again to start selecting. Otherwise you are just moving the insertion point around. You don't actually need to five touch to select the first word. Otherwise, spot in![]()
It's not really "double force touch" as in having to do it in rapid succession. You can press once and them move your finger around as long as you want and then press again to start selecting.Force Touch Select Tip #2
Force Touch Keyboard brings up the "Cursor Mode". But DOUBLE Force Touch (double-tap without lifting finger) and you are now SELECTING text.
To select a word in a box of text all you need to do is rest your finger on it. I can successfully do this on devices that don't support 3D Touch at all. This is referring only to a non editable body of text. If you're editing text (such as something you've typed up) it doesn't apply. But go ahead and attempt to hold your fingerHow do you figure? Hmmmm, I can do this on both 6s and 6 with ios9. Must be an iOS thing and not connected to 3D-touch
Please post a video of you doing this on a 6. It isn't possible.[/QUOTE
That's the way it's always worked. We're talking here about 3D TouchTo select a word in a box of text all you need to do is rest your finger on it. Over a word in this paragraph you're reading. It will hi light the word.
And I can do that on my iPad Air. This has nothing to do with 3D touch.Hmmmm, I can do this on both 6s and 6 with ios9. Must be an iOS thing and not connected to 3D-touch.
You have to let up first after selecting word on 6, then repress and move and select text, so it's a little bit different.

Actually it is a bit different. If you just touch a word and let up then you have a word selected and you then grab one of the "handles" and drag to select. With 3D Touch, you can touch to select and then leave your finger there and then press which selects the word and start dragging to select what you want, all without lifting your finger. And I don't think this has anything to do with 3D Touch. I still think it's an iOS thing. Placebo effect with the 3D Touch in this instance. I've played around with both 6 and 6s. Same thing happens

This isn't it. This video shows the old way (which never really worked that great for me). The way it works now (which may or may not need force touch), you don't have to try to grab and drag the little dot. You just move your finger after selecting the word and then force touching (after lightening the press a little) and the selection automatically moves with you. This is on an iPad Air 2. I think I'm just touching the right side cursor and dragging it to select other text. Nothing special there. I do see what your talking about. Just select the word and you don't even have to worry about grabbing the right side of cursor with 3d touch.
Exactly! It's not. There is a difference. On my iPad Air 2 I press once I select a word. If I immediately move my finger it moves the selection from one word to the next. I have to lift my finger off the screen then touch again to get the handles to allow multiple word selection. On the 6s I press once to select the word, I can then press slightly harder to get the handles without leaving the screen, and with more consistency because I don't have to tap the same spot again after lifting my finger. It's definitely Force Touch related.
Good find OP!

First force touch: select the word
Second force touch: activate the drag rubberband
In glad you've seen the light! I think you were trying to find this Way morenkifenchsnginf than irbid lol . It's just slightly better. But I don't mind that. I fm rather like the simple ways 3D Touch has made things better. I wasn't expecting to even care about 3D Touch. My favorite new festure is app switcher activated by multitouch. I so wish we got spit screen on our phones. I might consider jaikbreaking again after over three years of not bothering (though I'll probably justifier about it). That's the way it's always worked. UPDATED. Ok, now I see what you are talking about. It does actually help a bit in selecting non-editable text. I can do the same however by just lifting my finger and touching again. The real beauty of 3D Touch is selecting text while editing it with the keyboard.
