? Who said anything about artists designing them? Fire the emoji artists and hire more people that do hardware, fix bugs, etc.
Obviously apple sees more need to have emoji artists creating new emoji’s.
We need a “ I’m sick of people who are dumb enough to think anyone really believes emoji artists work on everything” emoji. Otherwise known as the “I’m sick of people lncapable of coherent thought” emoji”.

The more of this useless crap they add, the harder it is to actually scroll thru them.
So where does this end? Do they make an emoji for every conceivable object and living organism? I want to know when it stops. Where is the line? And if there isn’t one, why not?
Are we not just recreating the vast Chinese language with pictographs? There are too many to choose from, so it’s not saving any time trying to find the right one. And if you type it out and it suggests one or you hit the emoji button to highlight and replace all the words one at a time, that takes more time than the writing you already did.
I get picking a few in certain instances to exaggerate a point or be silly in a message, but I don’t see the point in building it into a full language unless we end up wearing headbands in the future that let us communicate using only our brains and emojis on a display or hologram. Is this intended to become a fully universal language? So many things to consider here. Especially when the meaning of certain things change, such as the switch to water gun but only on some devices.

Everybody has a budget, even apple. If they are focusing on emoji’s thats avey possible. Nobody just hires willy nilly, they have a budget. A hiring structure.
They are apparently concentrating on the emoji section.
It’s also not as easy as “fire an artist to hire someone else”. Typically each section gets a set budget and they need a higher budget to hire more people. Could they focus on more than one area? Sure, but the insinuation is they are not. Apple is very

Actually, no. They just released iOS 12 without any new emoji. It’s pretty cool. You should check it out.
That’s just plain wrong. Apple does make the emoji for iOS. Just as Google and Samsung and Microsoft make the emoji for their devices. That “independent group” you are talking about merely publishes the emoji standard for these companies to follow when creating their emoji. Furthermore, they are really not as independent as you think, because Apple (along with other major tech companies) is an advisor to the group and helps them decide which emoji to include in each new release of the standard.

We do over use it. Even in the office Skypes, we type "lol", but I never hear anybody ACTUALLY laugh out loud. And "ROFL", I never see anybody rolling on the floor laughing. But "ROFLSHISMS" (Rolling On the Floor Laughing So Hard I'm Shi##ing Myself Silly), now I do see people doing that but I never see them type it. What's up with that? Emojis are fine, it's character-art I hate. It always feels like I'm trying to look at one of those water-color blob paintings and having everybody tell me I must be color blind because I can't see the dolphins jumping out of the number "9" or that I'm going to hell because I can't see Jesus looking at me from the letter "Q".

Seriously though, its good to see that a tech company is having fun and has a sense of humour. Life can get way to serious with various problems in and out of our control, having fun with some new emojis is welcoming.
