At this point how do you even find any specific one in the vast the sea of 12pt icons?

On GBoard when I swipe a word that has an emoji, the emoji is suggested as one the alternates for what I inputted.
Maybe Apple can cop^H^H^H adopt a similar feature for the iPhone's keyboard.

Who am I kidding, they can't even get a keyboard entry method that doesn't require hunting and pecking.

I could have used the broom emoji earlier today, and the bagel earlier this week. There are many others that I’ve wanted in the past, like toilet paper, test tube, peacock, puzzle piece, and salt, and I shave my head, so the bald man is especially welcome. To those of you grousing about emojis in general, or Apple’s effort creating this new set,:p

I'm not a big emoji user as I prefer the written word, but accept on occasion an emoji can do the job just as well. But to all the angry emoji haters, please remember that symbols that represent words have been about since 3200BC in the form of hieroglyphics, so I don't see them going away anytime soon.

Apple needs to improve hardware before they do this emoji ****. I demand that all the people working on emoji be ordered to get started designing and manufacturing Macs!

I said this once before, but it bears repeating. AngerDanger, you are the best thing about MacRumors. When I see your avatar in the comments, my mood gets a lift even before I've seen what you said or animated.

Probably an emoji designer is a relative of Tim.
I cannot imagine how such a useless thing can become a headline for an OS...
Or maybe they want to give Ryan Reynolds things to mock in Deadpool 3.

Oh wait!!!! I want Deadpool emojis!!! Apple can we have some??? :-D

I'm pleased that other readers are as tired of hearing about e-mojis as I am. It saddens me that both Apple and the good people who curate Unicode waste so much time and resources on them, I suspect mostly for the benefit of prepubescent girls, the same ones who are so investing in personalizing the look of their Peechee folders (I'd add something here about stuffed animals except that I have a nifty stuffed stegosaurus myself). And I'm a whole less than agog to read about them here.

Finally I'll be able to send this!

“Emoji good. Like, save brain from thinking words an’ stuff, like. Me no good with, like words and thinkin’, like. Me use “like” to replace words, like cos can’t think words, like. Like. So brain no get tired, like. Emoji-they say words that me no stored in brain, like. Emoji-he good.”

Thank you Mr. Cook. A fascinatingly descriptive insight into the wonderfully effective and extremely functional tool that is the Emoticon-Jivebunny (Emoji) which is by helping those who have difficulty with words express themselves and for those who currently have a vocabulary running into double figures - to reduce that amount.

It’s a win-win, dumb-down situation for us all and stops any nasty individuality factors creeping in. Well done Tim for such innovative vision once more ... er ...like. Ha ha.

So let’s keep in with the micro-brain word-drought with an Emoji ... :( .. this one symbolises the acceptance of the end of human intelligence, like. Y’know?

Remember: if your brain can’t keep up the pace-insert funny face. Yeah? G’nite!

I would like to see the "I'm sick of emojis" emoji. I would really much prefer Apple working on something useful...

I am far more likely to use one of the new emoji than I would buy a new Mac Pro or Mac Mini. Just saying.

I love emoji, it's like they've managed to sneak the old skeuomorphic UI design in through the backdoor.

However I do have to say I can't fathom how to use them in any useful context. I rarely see them used to emote anything meaningful not already written out in the message but again I'm not a teen girl messaging people 500 times a day.

No
Even in jest, and even if in extremis your point is not entirely without merit, why be a d*** about it? In a better world, we all just along, and have an open-mind to the different ways in which people want to represent themselves. As I see it, so long as it s not harming anyone (which it isn't), why would ever-broadening emoji diversity be considered a problem?
No, he’s being a bigot about it. He probably doesn’t realize it though.

I mean... they have had that feature since at least iOS11 if not iOS10.

Type a word, and if the word reflects an emoji the emoji appears in the word picker above the keyboard.

Maybe you missed it as you use 3rd party keyboards but they have had it for 1-2 years now.
