Sweet spot is 6-Core with 16GB and 1TB for $1,899 or down to the 512.
The lower end Quad-Core upgraded to the same 16 and 1TB is $1,799. No brainer.
Mac mini for almost $2k is considered “sweet spot.” Funny.

Can’t use your own ram. Soldiered onto the motherboard.

Unless somebody made a massive mistake that confirms it should be user accessible.Has that been confirmed? I ask because of this post I made:

Note how the above is clear about no upgrading storage after purchase, it's only "as built".
Now notice the omission of "not user accessible" from the RAM details:

Tech spec says SO-DIMM memory. So you should be able to change it, just how difficult it will be.Can’t use your own ram. Soldiered onto the motherboard.
Guy, relax, this is for the MAXED out Mac mini for some serious performance. If the price hurts your butt, then there is a $799 option as well. A comparably spec'd out PC with 6 cores, 2TB flash etc etc is still in the realm of thousands of dollars.
They clearly pointed out the user upgradeable ram slots in the keynote...

Apparently some people are so eager to spew crap that they can't read or comprehend...Can’t use your own ram. Soldiered onto the motherboard.
Sodimm ram. It’s user upgradable and shown with an image during the keynoteCan’t use your own ram. Soldiered onto the motherboard.
They’ve lost the plot, SJ introduced the mini to make it an impulse buy at a cheapish price, this mini destroys this. Having said that I *might* upgrade from a 2012 quad i7, but I’ll be balking at the price nonetheless.![]()

Maybe HP would be better suit your needs.
There is a new cooling system..we may need to remove it to access the RAM.I thought I heard them say that, but I didn't recall for sure, awesome ... and see below
Oh yeah, and here, it's clearly NOT soldered ...

Looks like a piece-of-cake, just like my 2012 models![]()
The guy was probably just mad about the fact that Apple usually solders the RAM onto the motherboard, and hastily posted that to let everyone know how mad he is. Just happens to be wrong. No it's not. What do you get out of lying?
SSD upgrade pricing is insane and keeps me from getting one.
