Just a nice way to close out. Evidence of what people use Apple products for (Lana has used Macs for years and made the music videos for the songs that she got famous from in iMovie on her Polycarbonate White MacBook).
Thanks for that, I didn't know. :)

I love mac os, but if they increase the price any more at this point Im out. My iMac was like $3700 and that was beyond pushing my limit as it was.

Unless the ram is user replaceable (and preferably the ssd), these prices are a serious joke for a mac mini with added ram and ssd storage space.

I love Unix so I guess I'll just deal with the lack of software on linux platforms and make it happen.

If you can upgrade the ram yourself than getting the lowest ssd and then getting an external and while upgrading ram yourself might make it acceptable.

switch before it dies! Now is the best time. Im gonna get the base model Air despite having same 8 GB ram like my machine...

Ooo. I need 16GB RAM and at least 256 GB SSD (but I have 512 right now...). That puts me in MBP territory.

Although this was a relatively short announcement, I really enjoyed the pacing of it. It didn't seem like there was any filler. As for the products announced... glad for those who were looking forward to them, nothing enticed me.

New MacBook Air is from $1199.. yet the MacBook pro is from $1249 with the same size display, and a faster CPU?.. so what's the point in the Air?!..

A very intriguing question of questionable overlap, indeed...

I have 1 TB right now ... I will compromise for ultra portability. But I will also get a Mac mini, put files there... I think the Air is way more beautiful than the pro.

Excellent. With the price drop to $649 for the 10.5 inch, I can get one for lower once holiday sales roll out. And I still love my iPad mini 4 and once again more likely being the final iPad mini released.

These new iPads are awesome, but not my price point. Enjoy to those who do get them!

Well - it's a 7th gen in the MBP vs 8th gen in the air... but that's not the difference to be concerned with. Look at weight and battery life.

You also get screen that is almost twice as bright on the MBP.

The message delivered is clear: they want iOS to be the future (mainly because iOS is better suited for selling services and for limiting the user freedom).

Now all makes sense: MacBooks losing USB-A... the real reason was to reduce the differences between the Mac and the iPad... the introduction of USB-C in the iPad today is a real smoking gun... You see: this is a MacBook. This is an iPad. Same ports, but the iPad is "more professional". They really depend on services for their current marketing strategy, that's why they are pushing into iOS so hard.

Disappointed that iMac didn't get any love. Was about to pull the trigger on one...they said "wait till the 30th...there is suppose to be an announcement". Of nothing I was wanting...
Likewise - I was waiting for the iMac refresh & would order today, but.....:(

I wonder if they'll announce anything in the very near future or if the regular, garden variety iMac going the way of the red headed stepchild Mac Mini until today?

It is pretty. I have a new system being set up school and they haven't confirmed if it's iPad friendly yet. That will change how I go... but I do think it's always best to buy Apple hardware ASAP to maximize the value of the device over it's life. And since this one got me nearly 10 years now I feel ok paying the "Apple Tax".

WTH?

What about a Mac PRO update?

I'm working on a system that is already 5 years old and for a company that wants to buy NEW Macs NOW.

As a professional using everything from the Adobe CS to FCPx, this is extremely disappointing and it doesn't seem Tim gives a sh*t and just wants to fawn over moving to NY.

RIP Steve. You're missed every day.

I am very seriously considering selling my 2015 MBP 15" and switching to a Mini (back actually, used a couple of them back-to-back for a couple of years prior to this machine). I'd upgrade to the 3.2GHz 6‑core i7 (+200) and to 512GB storage (+200) for a total cost of $1499.

I'd definitely want 32GB of RAM, but check this out:

The extra info for storage for the new Mini:

Clearly indicating the storage is as built, however, no such "warning" for RAM, so assuming (like someone else suggested), it's user upgradeable? That would be __awesome__.

Yet, it still is limited in its capabilities vs a laptop/desktop.
Are you not understanding that most people don't want to use a Laptop/Desktop for 90% of their computer needs?

I use a powerful desktop with 128GB of ram and a Laptop with 64GB of RAM every day...for work. At home, I use the iPad Pro.

When people want to relax (biggest Apple market) they would rather reach for a powerful tablet than a powerful laptop or any laptop. So much more convenient. Gaming, browsing, photo editing, drawing with Apple Pencil, etc are so much easier on a tablet.

Excel modeling, I'll do on a desktop.

I agree with your assessment. :/ I still can't see Apple dropping Macs from their offerings for a while, though.
