Good day guys.

Ok just picked mine up last night.

I have one question is there a way to remap the on-the-fly-DPI buttons.
I would rather use them for something else.

I have tired steermouse and usboverdrive cant figure out a way with either.
I do like steermouse better by the way.

Any help is apreshiated.

Think if i find a PC and program it from there then put it on the Mac would that help?

I'm having trouble setting up my mamba, my macbook pro can detect the mamba but it wont track. The buttons work okay except I can't get any movement from the mouse. I'm running OSX Snow Leopard and I'm using steermouse. Anyone else have this problem?

that's a weird problem.

Have you tried hooking it straight to the computer with a cable? is the problem still there?

Also there is a firmware update out. I just did that last night also they say it helps with battery life.

PS your not runing SL in 64bit mode are you? steermouse does not support that yet. If so try holding the numbers 3 and 2 down while booting will force it to boot into 32bit more and see if that helps.

Try hitting the on-the-fly DPS buttons. See if that helps
If not go into the steermouse settings and adjust the curser options

Thanks that made it go faster, I took my mouse to my cousins computer that was running windows vista and I updated the firmware there.

I can't get it to run off wireless even tho the dock is powered up and both mouse and dock are running the newest firmware. I'm guessing its because I am running on 64bit. I tried pressing 3 and 2 down on startup but it doesnt load anything.

Yes, that is how I remapped my DPI buttons. The DPI buttons can me mapped to keyboard or click macros via the Windows Mamba mouse software. One of my DPI buttons opens the dashboard, other opens the menubar mod I have. Just save and update the macros in Windows and then they're active in OS-X.

Any mouse tuning you do there too is carried over - DPI defaults, refresh rates, etc. I upped the polling rate on mine there.

Hmm, that's wierd, because its not a razer-specific driver there, its just a usb wireless mouse driver. I'm on Snow Lep, but only 32-bit... :( Maybe try one of those 32/64-bit setting swappers and see what happens?

Hi guys i know no ones intrested but im going to tell this anyway:

I bought an mx revolution for 70$ (e-bad bid) and used it for 7 months. now im selling it for 75$ ^.^ because the retail price is something like 140$ in turkey.

So now im going to get a mamba for 130$ on e-bay and i have a sphex gaming skin! looking forward to my purchase.

i like the mx rev but...it got scratched in a few places and the extra stuff it has just seems too much for me to handle. (usb recharge ftw)

ive read the whole thread and love what i saw, i was worried at first then even happier with the drivers + firmware.

Ive gamed with mx rev flawlessly but sometimes when the battery is low ( which is like after 10 hours of gaming) the mouse got stuck on a corner or edge and the map (heroes of newerth) just kept scrolling WHICH MADE ME ÜBER_ANGRY so i had to use my old sucky windows p2p mice.

Also between bootcamp vista and Sno lep my mx had little (but noticeble) performance effect. On windows it was more accurate and responsive while on the mac it was somewhat sluggish.

Any performance issues with the mamba ? I'm getting it since Starcraft 2 is on the way ( 2010 january hopefully ) and just wondering.

Otherwise im going to sell the mamba for 150$ after 6 months :D hehe

-so happy i got all that outta my chest-

The only issues you'll see is that without SteerMouse or USBOverdrive the OSX acceleration curve for the pointers is way different then in windows.

Also, you can only "fine tune" the dpi and refresh settings of the sensors for the Mamba in the Windows software, so keep bootcamp or parallels around for that.

windows problem

hey,
I've managed to boot up in Windoze and update the driver "configurator" but whenever I try to update the firmware (doing everything correctly, holding the wireless button an plugging in the usb with the switch to OFF) the updater says "no mamba detected" :(

Also, has anyone figured out how to get macros working for like Expose/Dashboard or like Cmd+Shift+4+Space for screenshots? I had Dashboard working via the middle button on the scroll wheel for about 5 minutes simply via the Expose Preference Pane in SL and also had button 5 working for Expose All Windows but then they stopped working when I changed them. Cannot get them working again and the macros in Windows Razer Configurator don't seem to be working with buttons 6 and 7 :(

please can someone try to help me?

What version of Windows are you running? There's issues with Windows UAC in Vista and Win7 blocking the driver updates because Razer's drivers are not signed. Boot up windows to allow unsigned drivers (or disable UAC) and it should update the drivers okay.

I was able to map any keys in Windows via Parrallels, I have dashboard and a custom keyboard shortcut mapped to the DPI buttons.

Ok... all it allows you to do is change the DPI/acceleration and turn the lighting off. No button configuration at all (and back/forward buttons don't even work). :(

yeah i too am not pleased with this. seems like a poor excuse to say "we support mac too"

i'm also getting a huge difference between wired and wireless on the mouse aswell.

Its better for me in wireless. ( PS you cant access the preferences when wireless. )

in windows i cant tell the difference between wired / wireless.
but in mac i can tell a huge diff. ( just not the way its supposed to )

3rd party software is highly advised for this one folks.

I've never run mine without Steermouse, so I don't know if that's why I don't see this? Wired or wireless mine works great...the only problem is switching from wired->wireless, sometimes it takes a few tries.

Okay, so it's May 2010 has Razer released button support for the Mamba yet? I'm about to buy it but I'll pass for now if I can't map out my buttons. Here's an Engadget article from March 2010.

No, doesn't look like the Mamba driver has been updated since October. You can still use Steermouse or other drivers to map buttons and configure the DPI using the Windows drivers.

Wow, that really sucks. I guess I'll wait it out until that Engadget article comes true. Now that we have Steam, it could very well be any day now right?

I'm actually surprised that the Mamba hasn't gotten a new driver update, since the Orochi just got one in the beginning of the month, which has all the features that the Windows driver does.

Again, I have no problems whatsoever dropping that kind of money on a Mamba. I'll have to wait just like the rest of us but wouldn't it be awesome if it were wireless with a charge station?

The Mamba is wireless and there is a charging station. The stand acts as the charging station and the wireless receiver. You can have the mouse wired up if you like, but that is optional.

Anyone know if there is now dedicated support for the Mamba on OSX? I remember reading a little while back about them releasing proper driver support for the Mac.

they dont have support for it yet. I program mine on win then use it on mac but imo its not the best mouse ever or whatever.

i.e. if you lose your usb-mouse leash you will be properly f==ked since razer doesnt supply spare parts.

luckily i found mine but for a month or so my mouse was really really useless...
