Its a toy

Your friend is right. The iPad is an overpriced toy. I mean c'mon people your iPad is a toy. Don't try and justify it. Its a very nice toy, don't get me wrong.

I suggest iBooks. Text rendering benefits enourmously from the resolution.

For graphics, download a 1080p movie trailer and play it through the standard Videos app.

Strangely it is difficult to get at the movie trailers on iTunes, even though they are there (on the UK site at least). Go to http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/ on the internet, then click on the Trailers in iTunes link.

Chop some vegetables with it. He will sure be impressed.

And then play Angry Birds Space for 30 minutes and cook those vegetables on the back.

EDIT: Man, I was late to the cooking party. Someone else said stir fry up there.

somewhere on the internet is a person complaining about one of their friends trying to cram how awesome the ipad down his throat

I have a snooty, snotty, snobby friend who- although he doesn't know beans about anything- claims the new iPad is a way overhyped toy, and that the Retina Display is all in our deluded minds and is totally worthless.

...I need ONE drop-dead demo, or some easily brought up kick-ass screens, that will knock his arrogant insufferable ass for a loop. He is also quite impatient, so it has gotta be something instantly snatchable on regular 3G)

I sooo want to smoosh his nose in, and it will be my very first show-off with my new 32G Verizon. Suggestions, please!

He sounds like a typical Fandroid to me. LOL!

'Snootz thread' is getting some milage.

I guess everybody loves to nail the snooty guy. So let's get him :D

Show your snooty friend one of the Apps that have been updated to really show off the Retina display. The free ABC player looks totally awesome, for example.:)

This, and this. And games.

Save your valuable time and energy for other things. Advisably something more productive to your own person.

You'll almost never change these sort of minds. When the entire world is benefitting from a new tech and he/she's struggling to understand it, that's their problem - not yours.

Well said, and I agree completely.
