I’ve been happy with moving from the 7 plus to the X. That being said, I wouldn’t mind going bigger again. The Max has my interest, but I’m content right now.

Had every plus upto the X. Sticking with the X, I’m surprisingly satisfied with it.

Next year, when there’s maybe Face ID 2 and Pro Motion, I’ll likely upgrade and I’ll have a decision to make. Can see me sticking to the smaller size, personally don’t really need a bigger phone I’ve discovered.

I just posted this on another thread but I think it fits here.

This is all old news for any X user I am sure.

I was thinking of getting the smaller XS until I played with an X for the first time today (I’m still on a 6+) the smaller screen really struck me as iOS didn’t seem make the best use of the extra space.

I was fiddling round with the X in store today and noticed on Safari that the address bar extended quite far down the screen and when using a keyboard there’s a huge empty patch at the bottom as well as a lower bar at the top which resulted in a surprisingly small area of screen reserved for actual usage. It felt very claustrophobic. The notch didn’t bother me but the sheer amount of wasted space made me genuinely rethink my choice as I’ve reserved the smaller XS in store. I might have to go in on Friday before my appointment and have a play about with the larger phone.

I was all ready to change down too. I could hold the whole phone in one hand, it fit in my pocket without interfering how I walk (let alone going up stairs) it’s a real pain in the arse as I’ve already ordered some XS cases to tryout...

Is the screen big enough for you?

Going back to Plus vis XSM/Plus?

Can you make a poll for this? I’d love to know, as this applies to me. I miss the functionally larger screen, but I really like the device size. Fits in my jacket breast pocket without looking like a slab/tablet! And I can place the phone in my slacks or jeans front pocket and it’s also not a huge eyesore.

But I do miss the larger screen. Torn as to what to do. I may have to go see it in store before I buy. I mean, the screen is basically an inch taller than the height of the Plus screens. I could navigate the plus screen just fine, but I worry whether this new Xs “Max” (what a HORRENDOUS name!) will be too much of a stretch for my fingers.

I went from 7 Plus to X with some reservations last year. I find the screen of the X just fine and the overall size much better in my pocket and in my hand. When I want a larger screen, I use an iPad Pro.

I have decided to stay with the X size. I will be getting an Xs mainly for the duel SIM facility which will be good for my international business (UK and US phone numbers)

The X was perfect for me. The Plus was a bit too big. However, I wanted a new feel so I went with XS Max this time. If its too big I will just return it and swap for the XS since those are far under demand.

I think the space below the keyboard is an ergonomic/balance thing.

Good idea.

I went from a plus to an X and I love it. I think the X is a truly great phone. The perfect size to screen ratio. I do not think I would go back to a larger size phone. In retrospect, I find them a bit comically massive.

since all you guys love giant phones, I'm curious...What do you do on them? is it mostly youtube and social media or do you use some productivity/work/writing applications most of the time?

Most of my reading/email/forums/research/etc is on my 8+. Social Media yes but big phone not a driver here. I edit most of my photos, Raw & JPEG, using Lightroom & VSCO on my 8+.

Ironically, I also find them comically massive. If I’m sitting it can’t be in my clothing. At dinner, ballpark, etc it has to be sotting somewhere...table.. bench. I don’t love this.

I went from an 8 Plus to and X and honestly X is the perfect size for me personally

I use my phone a lot for media, videos, web browsing and social media

But even with the X the top left part of the screen can be a bit of a reach and I make use of the reachabioitg feature a LOT

Debating upgrading my device for more storage to an X or XS - the Max has no interest to me at all as I am content with the size of the X

For me it’s space to type comfortably and browse the internet. I’ve used my 6+ as an emergency Kindle before but it wasn’t great. Viewing YouTube videos is good too particularly with the screen being 1080p, this was one of the things that surprised me on the X was how small videos were.

Once you move the keyboard to the left or right one handed use gets much easier too.

Put me in the camp of those who went 6 > 6 Plus > 6s Plus > 7 Plus > X. I have already pre-ordered the Xs Max and it should arrive Friday.

While I still think the X is probably the best size in terms of ease of use and how comfortable in feels in the hand, I do miss the extra screen real estate and especially the better battery life of the larger phones. So I will be upgrading for sure, but my girlfriend likes the smaller size as it's easier for her to use, so she will be fine.

I'm also in the camp of those who have never typed with one-hand no matter what size of phone, even the old Nokia ones.

So, I just purchased the Xs Max...I miss the larger screen for reading, writing emails, and browsing. I also really miss the better battery life of the Plus-sized phones. I took 2-1/2 hours of photos last week (no flash used) and that sucked down 55% of my battery. By three hours use, I had gone from 99% to 45%. I would say that is the major shortcoming of the X and Xs -- the much smaller battery. Apple really should have considered a slightly thicker phone to give the advantage of a larger battery life. The X, which I have really enjoyed, has annoyed me only in that I always have to be aware of battery use -- lest I run it down and have nothing left and no place to connect to power!
With my Plus models (6 and 6S), I never had that problem of needing to micromanage power use - I never ran out.

So, I will have 14 days to change my mind if I do find the Max to be too large. But as someone above noted, with the unused space at head and foot of the screen, you really do get far less useable space - quite similar in fact to the 5.5" Plus models. So, I will probably be happy. Though I really did like how the X fit so well everywhere!

Also bought an Apple Watch series 4 - I had skipped the 3 model. So glad that I did!

Nice! I'm also extremely excited to upgrade, but was more worried about getting my hands on the phone. By the time I had time to think about the Watch, all orders had been pushed back to mid/late Oct. I'll hold off on ordering online and hope that I can pick one up in store sometime before that.

My gen 1 watch is looking forward to retirement, lol! :p

It could be but it just seemed like a large amount of space wasted. Makes me wonder if it is designed that way to push people to the larger (more expensive phone)

Before the X, I had the 6 Plus and the 7 Plus. I have regretted the X purchase since very early on. I knew right away that because of the aspect ratio, Apple sold a bill of goods by saying the X has a bigger screen than the Plus phones. Yes it technically has a bigger screen if you do the area math, but the usable space is much less. I was originally ditching the X and going to the XR because of the sheer factor of the internals and price and it still being bigger than the X. However, Verizon through me all off with their crazy promotion, so my wife and I have ordered XS Maxes. I hope and plan to get this phone and use it for 2-3 years.

There were no issues with iPhone X. It's only discontinued because it will eat into the sales of the Xs since the phones are so similar.

Normally Apple would have a feature that will differentiate the s model from the original. The Xs has none.
But you can still buy iPhone 8

Went from 7 Plus to X. For me, it's the perfect size. I doubt I will upgrade, as the X just fits my usage pattern so well. Big enough for reading but small enough to one-hand.

Exactly the same sentiment for me. I'm staying put on the X. It runs great!
