Duff-Man says.....they'll be showing that one at pilot school - "this is how it's done folks....good training, good planning, good execution...and a little luck on your side too..." - well done to the pilots and crew, and the ground people at LAX too.....oh yeah!

I don't know much about planes, but that landing looked mighty impressive.

Jeez, talk about coming through whent the pressure's on!

Somebody buy that pilot a beer!

Much like the DC-10 crash so many years ago, a cart wheel on final landing. There were deaths, but so many more lives saved by the pilots. Popular legend has it the same flight data feed in to flight sims over the world did not yield one flight crew that could have led such a successful "landing" as that pilot had.

I had an opportunity to meet that pilot. Till the and, he was still disappointed that he could not have saved more lives than he did.

I agree with the assessments here that such a landing is not "as bad" as we could think. Proper piloting is the big key. But we only have to look at the turn of fate at IIRC, Toronto, this past Summer. The pilot did what they could, but it was far worse than one would want. Today, that flight had an angle on board.
