What do you guys think about the iPad mini 4 having only an A8 chip? Could this mean no 2GB of RAM, or do the iOS 9 features like split-view multitasking confirm 2GB of RAM?

Should this have been the iPad mini 3 from last year?

WHAT?! I thought they announced it was getting the performance of the Air 2?!

Schiller claimed it's a smaller iPad Air 2 and what the iPad Mini 3 should've been. Hope they don't pull a quick one.

Tim Cook the iPad Mini 4 is now the same Specs of an iPad Air 2

That means A8X CPU and 2GB of RAM but I highly doubt this.

Also Next Years iPad Crop will all feature Apple Pencil integration and A9 CPU's that will be HUGE and Make even this years iPads Obsolete in 11 months from now.

100% No iPad for me in 2015
iPad Air 3 in 2016 A9X CPU and Apple Pencil Support $499 and Smart Keyboard Support THE Laptop Killer is 100 months away iPad Pro (too expensive too big IMO) No need for Quad Speakers Squeze more battery in there.

iPad Air 3 waiting for ya

Nothing's confirmed for the RAM. Unless they have a Geekbench screenshot on the device, we don't know what it has.

This is what it says;

'Because Apple's marketing materials show that the iPad Mini 4 can do split screen multitasking it's almost a given that this is a version of A8 with 2GB of RAM. '

Really bad statement to me, nothing is 'a given' when it comes to RAM and Apple. I'd be more inclined to say that if it has A8 it's a given it has 1gb..

I didn't wait... I just ordered one "available to ship in 4-6 business days" Delivers Sept 17-21 by standard shipping.
I've been waiting for this for almost a year. This should have shipped last November.

Whatever it has I have three on order. 2 X 64G (1 each for wife and I and 1 X 16G for granddaughter). All three with cellular. Ouch......

My money says its only 1GB of RAM, so if it supports Split-Screen I'll be surprised. If it does have 2GB of RAM though, it's a complete repackage because the A8 in the iPhone has the 1GB in the SoC, unlike the Air 2 which is separate from the A8X and on the board by itself.

I thought I'd be buying a Mini 4 today, now I think I need to wait and make a properly informed decision. If it doesn't have 2GB RAM that would be... disappointing. At least the tech specs on the Apple website mention the laminated display, so there should be screen improvements.

That's why the statement is "almost a given."

I'll wait for some hands on reviews. Since it is apparently ready for order, I can either wait until I'm at a store, or see if I can order from a 3rd party vendor and not have to pay sales tax.

I was just wondering about this, but their website shows split screen multitasking.

Depends on which multitasking they're referring to. I think Apple refers to SlideOver as multitasking, but currently only the Air 2 will do SplitView. Here's hoping the 4 gets the full iOS 9 range of features.
