perhaps, but that is not the result of jailbreaking. jailbreaking simply allows full read/write access to the filesystem. if you want to install a bunch of crap that kills your OS, that's different. (although, installing a winterboard theme in theory shouldn't effect battery much/(at all, really) because all you're doing is symlinking one resource to another.

Although you're right, there is a problem inasmuch as people install all kinds of new things that use battery. Most of the things that require Winterboard (or its successor) to be installed are things that are going to cause battery to be used because of increased graphics usage, for example.

I know, I know.

I've tried these Winterboard themes time after time, though, and I've come to the conclusion that there's something going on that just uses battery. Maybe if you change the theme and introduce a bunch of fancy stuff you're just inclined to keep pushing icons.

I dunno, except that I've learned to just keep Winterboard and fancy themes off my iPhone!

:)

same here....because they are usually just ugly, and incomplete.
i use a tweak called "shrink" to drop my icon size down to about 75%, that's pretty much as far as i go for things like that.

2 good reasons to jailbreak is to get cracked (pirated) apps on your iPhone and the other is to tether your iPhone's internet to your computer for free, especially if you have unlimited data.

OK i wasn't aware of the second one, since in Germany even T-mobile stopped blocking personal hotspots ;)
