accessories have become a big money maker for Apple.

With the first iterations of the iPhone and iPods you used to get everything from docks to sync cords. Now the iPad includes nothing at 500 bucks.

I said will be able to, not that Apple said it. Some people will no doubt be attracted to the iPad because it does everything they want a computer to do. Those people will be disappointed if they don't have a viable backup solution.

Well their solution is a .mac account and keeping copies of your data in the cloud and paying for it. It is a fairly elegant solution but involves recurring payments which a lot of people are averse to, myself included.

As for a full 'system' backup it could be technically possible for them to incorporate a time capsule app that backs up the os/data state to their time capsules (which seems equally elegant in my opinion).

And the winnwer is...

Sorry, that was gonna be 'winner'.

Some of the best keyboard docks that I have seen:

But of course, they could make it less glossy... with an aluminium bezel around it. And slimmer, too. Hm, that reminds me of something that I already seen somewhere. I think I even had two... Oh my God, I need some fresh Air!

Anyone else think the apple case isn't a good idea? you put it on a desk or something with the side that touches the screen when closed. Then u close it and whatever dust or dirt is stuck to the flap will rub against the glass screen while its in ur bag or whatever.. I don't really care for it..

Huh, I hadn't thought about it until reading your post.
Good point.

Yeah, that's another accessory, a screen protector film like they have for iPhone. :)

LOL Yeah right. If they can do that, they might as well start a new company and take over Apple. Snow Leopard is not possible to be touch screened, the best anyone can probably do is just translate each tap as a mouse click. <<That is not a touch OS!

i dont care, i want to dock it w/keyboard and use a mouse

Typical Apple...gotta exclude Standards (USB ports) so now we have to buy "adapters".

Ohh, that "adapter" you buy (for likely $29) will only allow a camera...heaven forbid it have any other purpose.

All these accessories (especially manufactured by Apple) just turn this pad thing into a pseudo-laptop.

Make up your mind, Apple! Is this thing truly a magical, revolutionary handheld device or just your answer to the netbook and inexpensive laptop market?

oh come on. Unless your argument has arrived from the past after having slipped through a worm hole, I think the ipod pinouts have been fully accepted by the market for what 8 years now?

Apple does this so you don't have unlicensed technology attached to the box. I don't completely agree with it, but stop fighting the flow man... like I said, Apple has been on this warpath for years and years. They want to lead. They don't want to follow and that comes with the territory.

BUt hey ... I sympathize.... I get really ticked off that I have to buy a special USB power charger for my phone because they require that windows drivers be installed if you want to charge from a usb cable. In the end all my griping didn't ad up to anything.

( Maybe I should get an iphone? )
